Very possible, Jezz. It did have a look of being a bit of a rushed decision. I don't care much for Tiger, but willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and kudos for a sportsmanlike act, even if sorta unintended.

Here's another thing I've only just thought of... if it really didn't matter to him at all, why did he even bother having a go at the 4-footer?
My take is that he stood over the putt with all the crap going on around him (not great IMO) and his heed was buzzing with "I can't believe we have collapsed and failed to regain the cup,I have had another crap Cup,these goons are celebrating while I am trying to hole out for my only point but do you know what who cares,I've had enough..........Christ what a stroke that was!!!.......Bugger it,let's get out of here Franny,pick it up son it matters not a jot"
I think that something came into his mind as he pulled the trigger and his mind went elsewhere as he put that horrific stroke on it and once he missed he'd had enough......someone yelling "we've won" or the like...there was a hell of a lot of noise going on as they played their shots on and around the 18th green.
We have all been there,something putting us off as we hit the ball.......it happened a few times yesterday....Poulters near shank as a roar went up and Stricker I think it was putting one of the most horrific strokes he has ever put on a putt as a roar went up.
You may well be right Allan, but somewhere between the 4-footer and what happened next, he went from still trying to win his match and tie the Cup to not being bothered about it... and I appreciate that may well have been as a result of all the commotion going on around him.

I said exactly the same Jezz! There was too much in that putt for it to be a gimme, maybe it was the euphoria going on around him, but one thing is for sure and that is Tiger does not do losing....FACT! He well and truly ballsed up!!!!!

I don't think that anyone could understand the immense pressure on these guys, especially the tail enders who hadn't performed very well. Tiger was upset when he missed his last putt and I think his head just went and I am sure that the concession was a heat of the moment spontaneous thing that he didn't have the cold light of day to think about.

Have watched it again, Tiger certainly tried on his chip, which lipped out, and he took plenty of care over his putt. Looked at the line from both sides. The putt was just a straight pull left, and confirms to me that his short putting inside six feet is not what it used to be. Not sure why he gave Molinari his putt, but he was trying to win the hole up to the missed putt.

He has no class................ask his wife or the PGA Tour officials who have imposed more fines on Tiger Woods, for swearing and spitting, than any other player.
Class would have been to concede the hole the moment the Ryder Cup was heading back to Europe and not think about how he could be a hero by winning his particular match...............................and did you see his face at the closing ceremony?
I just wanted to slap him round the face with a cold, wet sea bass!

I think he gave him the putt because he wanted to give him the victory rather than have it taken from him
I'm with Jezz on this. I think Tiger putted, missed, picked his ball up then thought " shoot, that wasn't conceded ". So to avoid a stramash he conceded Molinari's putt.
Jezz may have hit the nail on the head but I guess the only guy that really knows is Tiger and as we all know getting a straight answer out of him is as likely as me making Cat 1. In the end whatever the reason, the history books will show a European win and no-one will remember the concession and it'll be all about the fight back which is right and proper. I do doubt that the thought of costing bookies and punters a fortune for the draw even entered his mind.
