There was a thread recently about stableford scoring. Someone said tee it up on the side of the tee box where the danger was and aim away from the danger. I got every tee shot in play and though I had 4 blobs I scored 28 points from the other 14 holes. Still a work in progress but getting there...slowly. So whoever it was thank you.

28 from 14 holes is on-handicap scoring so that's a huge plus point from the day. Yeah you're going to get blobs - ask Fragger - even low handicappers have days when they get 2,3 or more blobs.
How bad were the blobs?

One was a 10, one I picked up when I knew I couldn't score the other 2 my ball vanished into the leaves never to be seen again. I think things are looking up though. Thanks

Well done for shooting level handicap for the holes you completed. Losing them in leaves is a seasonal hazard at this time I'm afraid and so I wouldn't be too unhappy. The other two seem to be the bad shots you always seem to get when you write on your blog and which will happen at the moment (and even when the handicap falls). Take heart and keep going

As for the tip, it's one I read in a book by Peter Alliss thirty odd years ago and one I have always used.

It's an old chestnut, but sadly I'm not a fan. If I tee a ball far right and try to hit it left (as an example) it's more likely that I'll steer the shot, cut across it and slice to oblivion.

Maybe I'm mad? Maybe I actually missed every fairway today? and dreamt my whole game.

Rgdave, I'm like you and sometimes this ruling can really stitch me up, bug other times it's a saver, I don't think it's as simple as using this rule on every tee. I tend to use it where it doesn't bring my bad shot (pull/hook) into play

As said losing a ball in laying leaves is a pain but its something we all experience at this time of year, steady scoring

Thanks guys really appreciate the comments. It worked for me yesterday especially as we have a few tight holes with OOB down the right. JD you are always welcome though best to wait till we lose those blinking leaves!!!!!!!
