Who played golf this weekend???

played for only 2nd time this year today so also only my 2nd outing at the new club. Apart from the driving being attrocious the ball striking with everything else was good few things to iron out namely driving but looking good for season ahead.

Had a game at Carnwath this morning as a warm up for Muirfield on Tuesday, didn't hit it to badly but was made to look like a proper chopper by my big mate who knocked it round in 4 under after starting bogey bogey. Have to say was a joy to watch and was effortless into the bargain.

37pts and could have been a few more. Pleased with almost everything off the tee, irons were decent but as usual short game was average.

Both days and played quite tidily. To handicap yesterday and 3 under today. Stood on the 16th 2 under gross for the back nine and promptly hit a double bogey!! Lovely day today and even took my woolly hat off!

Played an 18 hole stableford this morning with sanded greens and shot 84 for 36 points.....So nett level par....... All in all happy out as im still building a decent swing.

Played at Ashbury in Devon this weekend on a lads golf weekend, great courses there and the weather stayed nice for us

Played a winter foursomes match and nearly threw it away. Two up with four to play, and suddenly we are going down the 19th. Fortunately managed to hole a nasty little five footer down hill to win the match. Didn't fancy my partners return putt if I had missed. Into the quarter finals.

Played 18 holes on Saturday. I thought I was on for breaking 90 but a wobble on 17 and 18 meant I came in with a 91. That's still four shots under my handicap.

Highlight of the round was a cracking 170 yard hit onto the green on our SI 1. Left me a great birdie chance. Missed the putt and walked of with a par but its one of the holes I usually take a 6/7 on.

Looking forward to the start of the season now.

Played in a medal yesterday. 76 gross, 70 nett & a 0.2 cut. 27 putts yesterday.

Played today in the GM northeast society day at Cleveland, 74 gross & 40pts. 28 putts today.

That's the season started for me, played 18 holes Friday and Saturday, then couple hours practice this morning

Played in a casual 9 hole competition called "Beat the Pro". I shot 17 points off 3/4 handicap but sadly my partner could not do his part.

8 groups went out and I was lucky enough to play with the two pros, they shot 17 and 15 points. I showed them my stuff by parring the last 3 holes and I hit my 3 wood as far as one of the pros drivers :D Just a pity I started so poorly and had one bad hole where I topped the tee shot then hooked my next into a river :(

Played away in an open, have been playing rubbish , turned + 1 with 21 pts, 1 birdie out of. 6 birdie putts, all had a chance..

Had 2 scratches on the back & a couple of one pointers , to shoot 15 for a total of 36.... Bonus was 20 foot putt for a 2 ..

Coulda had 40 pts without playing any better, still fighting the swing a bit , but was happy

I played 18 holes yesterday with my twelve year old son on the Waterfall course at my club. It was a lovely afternoon, the two of us out there together playing.

I've just got back from 10 holes on the same course. I had the whole place to myself and it was just lovely being out there alone in the beautiful Sussex countryside, with the deer, pheasants and rabbits. Came back to the clubhouse for a beer and to see the final 15 minutes of Spurs beating Arsenal - a fine end to the weekend :-)

Played yesterday on the back of a lesson earlier in the week and am trying to improve my backswing with a better turn, less chicken wing and a bit shorter.

Scored 96 gross, 24 Stableford points. :ooo:

The swing never felt right but it wasn't that that caused the damage but my short game, shocking!
Not only was I chipping badly but I had probably my worst day ever on the greens, first time on full greens for a while but that was no excuse. I've just been trying to remember and I'm pretty sure I took 42 putts including two 4 putts (vanity prevents me from mentioning the number of 3 putts) and on the second hole I putted off the green.
Add to that a few more putts from just off the green and you can see what I mean.

Oh well, only 7 days until the next round and hopefully my mind will be clear. :putt:

I stood with a wedge into the 15th at +1 and looking like I might swerve my comfort zone in the right direction. Bogey, Bogey, Double followed. Birdied the last for +4.

Last week I was +7 through 8 and looking like I might miss my comfort zone on the wrong side. Played the last 10 in -2.

Hate comfort zones!

Saturday played Nailcote Hall Par 3 Championship course and today shot my lowest ever gross around KGC with a 82 net 59 :)

You are in a lovely spot there, and have a cracking clubhouse. Played there with one of the investment companies I did business with. Think it was probably the other course. Had a par 4 with a big dogleg left, and you played your second shot up a huge hill to a green with a big tier in. Must have played around September as the course was covered in crane flies.

Welcome to the forum.

Played a 'friendly ' stableford today.3 doubles, 3 bogeys, 3 birdies and 9 pars for a 77 and 30 points playing off bare feet. 28 putts with the new putter on shocking greens. Driving is awesome just now, added 20 yards to my game after working on lag the last few months. Missed an 8 footer on the last for a share of 40 flaps, which the brother duly won much to my annoyance. Onwards and upwards!
