Who played golf this weekend???

Progressed in the winter foursomes, through to the semi final now, i did have to shoot even par gross on the back nine (waiting for the bandit shouts!) to get us through 1 up.

Anyway hopefully to beat smange on tuesday although trying to get money off him is nigh on impossible

Is that the sound of a gauntlet being thrown down?

Head to head on tuesday, matchplay off scratch or are you wanting your 3 shots from your bandito handicap

Your the man in form with your 8 under nett at the weekend so I look forward to a bit of a challenge ;)

You are in a lovely spot there, and have a cracking clubhouse. Played there with one of the investment companies I did business with. Think it was probably the other course. Had a par 4 with a big dogleg left, and you played your second shot up a huge hill to a green with a big tier in. Must have played around September as the course was covered in crane flies.

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks a lot. I have to agree with you - it is a beautiful place and the clubhouse is rather lovely. I have only recently joined and am really enjoying myself up there. I reckon you played the Kingfisher course which is pay and play whilst the Waterfall is members only.

Cheers

Played the same comp as Hawkeye. Had 31 points with three blobbed holes due to poor short game execution. Drove the ball very well, had just 30 putts. 75% of FIR, 40% sand saves and so the signs for 2013 very positive. I WILL get the short game nailed and then go very low

Played today in a bogey comp (non-qualifying) and I'll confess I don't know the rules too well. However, shot 78 to finish 2nd with 3 points, or to be 3up or something - as I say, don't really know how it works. The stableford equivalent would be 39 points, I think.

Holed nothing - 37 putts - though we were putting on sandpits half the time, so I'm confident that'll improve when the season starts. Played 2 excellent bunker shots, though, both finishing inside 2 feet for tap-in up & downs.

All in all, I'm quite pleased with how things are going so far this year. I've played 2 rounds and shot 75 & 78, so both well under h/c. Hope I can keep it going when the real stuff starts :)

I played in a pairs Open at Fleetwood today, 4bbb 3/4 h'cap. I was just buying a bacon sandwich before going out and the guy serving said "You'll have to get off to a flier out there today", "Whys that" I replied, "A pair have just come in with 48 points". It Kinda took the wind out of my sails before we even teed off.

We did Ok and eventually came in with 39points, i had 3 birdies and a 2 and It was good to get out in decent weather, but we never stood a chance. I'd rather not know that someone has come in with 48 points before I've gone out...

Played today at Worsley, really enjoyed it and played reasonably well from the 6th onwards. Scored 29 points but missed too many putts. Driving was good and iron play was much better, still need improvement on my short game still.

Well we tried! Two of our regular 4 ball didn't even show up, and the normally quiet course was freakishly busy, after nearly 2 hours we walked though the 6th, played the 7th, looked at the queue of three groups on the 8th tee, a group on the 8th green, a group on the 9th fairway decided to go home via walking through the (blind) 18th, saw a group of four teeing off on the tenth but no-one in front of them for the rest of that hole, nor the 11th tee so assumed they were the bottleneck and not letting the others play through.

A real shame as I was really looking forward to that game all week, and despite wayward tee shots I had some excellent recoveries & short game, but we both went to pieces on the 6th with three groups watching us on the tee which is why we walked it and let those guys play while we regrouped our composure on the quiet & secluded 7th. We did have a really nice chat with them while waiting for the 6th green to clear though.

Played our second Medal of the year. Still off the mats and not the Tee's although it was a qualifier. Shot net -1 off 23 and was absolutely shocking.

Threw away shots on the first few holes (started on third) I dont know why, but I can not translate my casual golf to a qualifier. Need to relax more I suppose.

On the plus side my son played with the juniors this weekend for the first time. We start at and Juniors finish at one I was on the putting green as he walked up the 18th and he dropped his wedge straight into the bunker, Gave me a little wave and shock his head. Then he splashed it out to about 6 foot, all the guys on the putting green clapped which I thought was an amazing gesture (they all new it was his first day).

So! Who played and how did you do? I had my 2nd round of the year, felt I didn't play well but managed 34 points. It was only a friendly knock with best mate, FIL & BIL and as I have no official handicap so played off 20.

Was good to be back out on the course, which was in great condition, greens were fast and true!

No memorable shots, a couple of forgettable ones tho!

Played yesterday, 36 points, struck the ball well so a bit disappointed with the score

Hit it well tee to green, probably the best I've hit it all year.

Unfortunately it coincided with my worst putting of the year. I think I had 9 or 10 3 putts in a gross 91 that could have been an 85.

Never mind :)

I turned up, thats about as good as it got

You'll be fine once your a TM tart!

Played in the medal on Saturday and played pretty well. A couple of odd bounces and a flyer out of the rough and I ended up with four 7's on the card but still only shot 5 over handicap. I'm expecting 0.1 back so it's up to 19 HC tomorrow!
Had a good game on the whole even when it went wrong it wasn't a disaster just a little off.

Played Sat and Sunday, chalk and cheese. level par gross on saturday in windy conditions and took the sweep money. Sunday prob about 90:(

enjoyed both games just the same. Fantastic weather 16 deg yesterday bright sunshine and hardly any wind.

Played on Saturday morning in glorious conditions. Course benefiting from a run of dry weather just when it needs it. Golf was reasonable as well, managed to hit all the fairways for the second week in a row so there must be a serious swing flaw in there somewhere ;)

Ended the morning sitting on the balcony with a cold drink in shirt sleeves in brilliant sunlight and pinching myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming after all it was only the 2nd of March.

Long may it continue.

I played 13 holes on saturday in our winter competition. Unfortunately we had all temp greens due to the overnight frost. I was a bit up & down though drove it well chipping & putting was not great but we were on temporary greens. I finished 2 over my handicap so not great, 10 under won (36 points through 13 holes!)

Played twice, a full round on Saturday witha coupdl of mates - won with 38 points and then a 9 hole match play yesterday with a guy from work - beat him 5 and 4 !!

Hit some great shots for me and constantly knocking it round in hanidcap or below albeit on a shorter course as off winter tees still.

Just checking the competition dates today and see that the first one I can get a card in for handicap purposes is not until April, by then by purple patch will have evaporated I suspect.

Saturday was a stableford comp. 36pts but slightly disappointing after having 21pts after 9 holes.

Sunday played the 5th round of the Matchplay Championship (last round before FoA finals) and lost 2 down to a 2hc that shot 70 (par 72).

Driving awful - could count total fairways all weekend without taking my socks off.
Ball striking with irons wasn't anything to write home about either, but I'm getting pretty good at making a score when I'm swinging pants. :)
