Even by Tiger's standards that was a bad driving day. Trying to fade the ball on holes where a draw is needed is not going to get it done.
Has he got the yips with driver I wonder? Being serious, he was not even attempting to play the correct shot and he had never shied away from that in the past so he has major swing issues to address in this area.
Got to say I thought his short game problems were terminal so credit to the man for his short game display.
Rory's long game is in a different class to Tiger and Spieth's all round game was different class to the field this week.
I watched a little bit of the BBC's pre start coverage yesterday, Sarah Stirks "man standing" became too off putting, and Paul Azinger was talking about Tiger's short game. He dismissed the yips instantly and stated something about not having the club at 90° and how it was basic and should have taken 5 minutes to solve. He was adamant it was not a yip issue. He was also quite scathing about Tiger's dependence on different coach's for his swing. Very interesting.
Thought it was great to see glimpses of the old Tiger. Still has work but there was some magic there.
Rory was very much a story of what might have been.
If he doesn't win a green jacket in his time I think everyone in the golfing world would be shocked. The only question now is, will he manage the grand slam before Spieth. That young lad showed some nerve. Had Rory shown the maturity of Spieth 4 years ago we would be now talking about when he'd win his second grand slam.
