Whites

We don't have yellow markers, just:

Reds (Ladies) Cse length 5,779 Yds
Whites (?? Never seen anybody use them) Cse length 6,421 Yds
Blues (Medal and Regular) Cse length 6,911 Yds
Blacks (Amateur Tournaments) Cse Length 7,503 Yds

Never seen anyone on the blacks either, but then, i'm not going to be playing in those tournaments anytime soon.

No yellows as they would be invisible in the sand :D

Colour systems very from country to country and sometimes clubs have extra ones or different ones.

Grimsby golf club in NE lincs has some green tees for seniors and juniors on some holes. Mostly ones with a long uphill drive or where lots of carry is needed. The greens are longer than the reds but usually up in the same area to avoid the trouble.

At Crowborough we could play off whites or yellows. They also have "The Stones" which are permanent fixture tees which on some holes are quite a way back from the whites. On the 1st hole in particular, it totally transforms the way the hole looks, and plays...especially into a head wind! These were only ever used in big club comps, county matches that sort of thing. Sometimes we used to go off the white on the 1st tee, and once out of the way of the pro shop/clubhouse revert to the stones from the 2nd. Bloody tough though.
Highwoods, whites were for competition play only. They had yellows, and blues (which were classified as tees of the day) but you could choose to play off of either those or the yellows.

Whites can be used at any time at our place. And the course plays a lot different. Par 3's are a good 30-40 Yards longer, Par 5's are again 50-60 yards longer. And a few of the par 4's they shift the white tee's right over near the fences making the tee shot more challenging.

Although the older members frown upon non-members using them. I think in the past they were members only tee's.

tbh, most of the non-members I see play up there play off the yellows anyway.

As far as I'm concerned, if you've paid you're money play the full course if you want.

Thankfully the course has developed a hell of a lot, it's nicer than the crap in Dubai by all accounts.

The championship course had been chosen to host the European Tour last season, it was on the listings apparently.

....Then they realised getting visa's was a lot of arse ache, so sacked it off.
