Regular readers will be aware that owing to a change of circumstances I had to let my 5day membership at The Zoo lapse and as I now have a proper job, I can only now play at weekends,

Went along to an open day at Whiteleaf today, it’s just outside Princes Risborough so very easily reached from Aylesbury.

We had discounted it as an option when looking for a new club 3 years ago as it was a 9 holer and hilly, but none of us had played it.

The open day included free 9 holes so teamed up with a member and another visitor and off we went.

First impressions are good, it’s a small friendly place, nice bar and changing facilities, the course itself is quite short at just over 5200 yards, par 66 . SS is 67. Pretty course in a beautiful setting.

It is quite undulating, but not as hilly as I expected, only 1 hill could be described as semi cardiac, and a couple of very short steep bits.
Greens are quite small, quite fast and true, no sign of fairway damage from last summer.

It’s all on chalk, so drains very well and never have temp greens due to wet conditions.

It has a number of features that Imurg hates, couple of blind shots, 1 crossover hole, 1 shared fairway, hills, short length, but I really liked it

So I joined :)

Special open day offer £650 for full membership, including £50 on your bar card, county subs and a free 4ball voucher.

So I am nomad no more,

Oh yes 😎

Enjoy your new home. Be careful on those hills given what has gone before with you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like it ticks all your boxes and while the crossover hole and shared fairway would be a small niggle for me, I could let the blind shots go once I played it a few times and knew with confidence where to be aiming and I assume the crossover/shared fairway are well policed by the members themselves so if it works then happy days. Time to start chalking the Fragger wins up

You mean the 240 yard uphill par3? With the postage stamp green ! Stroke index 5

Yeah still trying to get my head round that one, got a 4 /2 yesterday 👍

No, I mean its the only hole that doesn't have some kind of written safety restriction for when you can play a shot :p

Saw the adverts for the open day driving through Thame. Had never heard of it so had a look online. The pics of the course look good, but then saw it was a 9 holer with two tees per hole, that puts me off, so didn't go.
