Woke up this morning and saw snow outside and started thing Bing crosby (I'm dreamin of a white christmas, just like i used to know...). Went 2 work and had to throw salt over the walk and sweep the snow off the matts, bought myself two new toys (G10 driver and 5 wood, was able to convince mom and dad)and felt even better after hitting them (see review).

And then i started thinking about my trip to South Africa...

I'm going on the fifth of januari and staying there for about three months.

In the meen time i will be playing at parkview golf course (the last club where South African Bobby Locke played) and i'll be playing cricket at Pirates cricket club.

Where i'm staying it's a 2 block walk 2 the cricket club and a 4 block walk to the golf course...

basicly i'm staying in heaven for three months...

And at the same time i'm supposed to build up a portfolio for the Design Academy in Eindhoven (by the way, am writing this in the land of the Dutch)

Well this is my story about heaven...

I'm interested in other people's heaven.

Nikki,

Glad you like the 5 wood. That is the exact same club I bought a couple of weeks ago and hit it for the first time Sunday.

Absolutely love it, and as you said, is as great off the fairways as it is off the tee.

British Columbia is certainly a place I'd like to go and play golf (in the summer of course)
and the $1000 membership?, thats Canadian dollars so even cheaper

Local clubs here in BC also reciprocate with other regional courses. So local members get discounted green fees. In Redstoneresort's case members can choose eight regional courses to get the discounted rate. Is it similiar in your area of play?

Welcome to the forum Cary and thanks for the local knowledge.
I dont know about reciprocal arrangements over here, but I doubt it it most cases.
I'm fortunate I don't have to pay for my golf but I'm sure different parts of the country have different schemes.
I guess your courses are closed at the moment?

I've been skiing a bit lately and did not check the post. Thanks for the welcome. I have been emailing with a journalist friend and he had taken two trips to your neck of the world and had wonderful experiences. My wife and I want to come over in the fall of 2010. Is late October a good time to golf? What can I expect to pay? She has been to London and Bath and wants to show me around. If you had four courses to play which would you recommend?

thanks
