Whisky

Craggenmore! I'd love to like the rest but I don't.

Definitly prefer the Canadian and American offerings......................unfortunately

Auchentoshan for me,not a great lover of the peaty malts,i much prefer the lowlands malts. The flavours are a lot more subtle and less perfumey.

Auchentoshan bottled some stuff for the Clydebank centenary in 1986 and there is a bottle planked away since then. Wonder if it would be worth anything?

Aberlour A'bundah is a good buy for me as it is around 60% cask strength.
I like water with mine [after the taster sip] so I can buy more for my money with A'bundah. True Scot!
Not usually too keen on the sherried casks but this one is nice.

I was given a bottle of Glenmorangie recently as a return for a favour.
Had not tried it for years but still very good.

I prefer the Speyside Malts as they are a bit more palatable for me, not as strong or peaty. Worst Malt I've tasted is a Tobermory. I think the master blender took a dump in it before also washing his feet in the stuff.

Glenlivet is still my nip of choice.

Anyone tried the English whisky yet ?

Yes, my old Mum retired to Great Yarmouth so on our regular visits we used to drive past near where the distillery is.... So when they opened for business and had some for sale we called in tried it and herself treated me to a small bottle...

Not enough of an expert to rate it as good bad or indifferent but its more than drinkable...

Used to play at tricky ricky a lot with my father in law when he was still with us... They started a 'collection' of whiskies there and Ted and I would indulge in a post round nip of a different one each visit... Think we got to about 72 'trys'.... Some were more than drinkable others I couldn't see why anybody would want a second dram... Had one of the Japanese ones which was perfectly OK... Drinking for me is as much about the company your are in as the drink itself...

Japanese whiskys are very good.

There is a lot of money to be made in investing in collectable whiskys.
I bought a Bruichladdich Links series Turnberry for £29 three years ago, selling for over £100 now.
Very specialised knowledge needed though.

Bushmills 16 year old for everyday drams

Balvenie 15 year + for a treat

Highland Park is my favourite.

Also love Jamesons.

Don't buy either very often though because if they are in the house, I will have a whisky/ey or two every night until they have disappeared and this doesn't take long. I have no will power when it comes to whiskey/ey.
+1 on that, if it's in I'll neck it until it isn't anymore.

thecraw has your back on that choice.

Bunkers, Farneyman and myself were in Machrihanish last year and stupid me decided to order a round of whisky (ey) for that strange Irishman with us. Anyway 3 normal measures, I almost collapse as I see the barmaid ringing up the prices £22,£22 & £14 for that cheap Irish crap.

I calmly turned to the good Dr Ray and said I need more money!!!!!!!!!!! Thankfully he obliged.
