Which Team Lewis?

i liked the fact vettel went for it, the papers wont like it and webber wont like i, i reckon horner deep down will like it too as more chance vettel near top at the end of season than webber. why should he settle for second?

Let the fastest driver win otherwise it's not racing, it's fixed.
 
the fact that you say let someone win says it all to me, race to the end, they didnt get to where they are now by settling for 4th when the can push for 3rd and settling for 2nd when 1st in view

I see where you're coming from but don't entirely agree. It's not all about the individual as the constructors championship has to be considered. If RB and Mercedes had fought their team mates in this one there was a good chance they wouldn't have made the finish line due to fuel. It just so happened that RB had 1 and 2, Mercedes had 3 and 4, there was no chance of catching the other or being caught so they cruised in, well apart fro Vettel being NORTY:D

Let's hope there's a better mix of placings in China and some proper racing, what happened today isn't the norm, let's hope we don't see it again.
 
So too much emphasis on the Constructors Championship...

And put more fuel in.

If somone was watching that for the first time they wouldn't tune in again....

Like user2009 has said team orders are now allowed, these were pre-race team orders as well which Vettel would have agreed to prior to the start (although I suspect he thought would have been a role reversal) hence the 'petulant' comment.
To think these orders/agreements don't go on in other motorsports is probably naive.

To an extent I can understand Team orders 3/4 of the way through the Season where one driver can win the championship and the other can't but it's the 2nd race of the season...............

What, not even for the comedy value of all the pit lane mess ups? Alonso's mishap? and a few other things going on? I also watch Indycar and NASCAR and F1 beats them any day. Can't get into the bikes for some reason though. This season there's literally 6 teams in the mix for the first time in a long time, maybe only 3 serious contenders but they're all going to take points off each other.

Yeah I do agree with that and to be honest I think it has left a really sour taste because Vettel could have easily won without them.

I personally would love them to be removed and all cars have exact same fuel etc but think its too far gone for that now.

On a different note, I'd love to go see them live before the turbo whistle comes in. But doubt I'll get the chance. Went to see the moto at silverstone last year and it was an incredible day.
 
There's been "team orders" in every era and in every form of motorsport... Its not new...

The general concensous of opinion is that for RBR [and other 'top teams] to allow their drivers to 'race' between themselves up to the final pit stop. But thereafter to ensure a 'safe finish' with plenty of points the order [where possible] remains as is at this point...
 
I'm with Imurg on this, I'm not a motor racing fans as such but as a sports lover I'll watch it a bit now and again. No one give a toss about constructors championships other than the team owners. All Joe Public wants to see is sheer competition to see who is the best, fastest and luckiest driver on the day. They do not need to see after 50 odd laps a race suddenly stopping to an ordered procession over the line. Well done Vettel for wanting the points so badly because he wants to win races and championships. Might be 'naive' but good on him. Lot of betting in sport and how would you feel if you had money on Vettel or Webber and they are told by their teams the order to finish in, the whole thing is absolutely ridiculous. Like Imurg if this was near the season end with one of the team members in contention for the title and the other not then fair enough, but at race 2?
At least next time Webber will know to keep racing right to the end which is good news for the viewing public wanting to watch actual racing.
 
I enjoyed the tactical battle of todays race, going into the wrong pits probably cost Hamilton the chance to win the race, Ted said he thought that probably cost him 4-5 seconds. The obvious tension between the red bulls coming out in public today. Also Rosberg showing some frustration as well.

With eurosport, I know they were only following the live feed but I thought it was shocking from them. One commentator obviously knew nothing about speedway and kept getting riders confused, I am sure I heard wolfie and peterson at one stage, and as well as someone else said when he kept talking about the exclusion light he didnt have a clue. Although Peason and Tatum annoy some people I will be very happy to have them back even though the aussie commentator got very excited even when the racing wasnt that close. Bit of a shocking track though to have for the first round was so slick and once you was out of the gate you was gone. Cant wait for Good Friday to see the Stars give them Panthers a double whammy.

It's a Team Sport 2nd surely.......

Who gets most attention?
Vettel as he's WC or RB as they're the team...?

A team sport is footy or rugby or the Ryder Cup
This is individuals competing against each other - they just happen to represent the same manufacturer/constructor.....
 
I understand the need for team orders but I don't like them. Vettle wanted the win more than Webber and rightly or wrongly used his speed and skill to claim that 1st place. It's tough for Webber as he has let Vettle pass many times before.
The Mercedes decision is very wrong for me. They held back Rosberg as Hamilton had to save fuel. I feel it would have been better to release Rosberg so he could try to close the gap to Vettle and Webber rather than settle for the 3rd and 4th spot. He clearly was faster and able to pass Hamilton.
Mercedes didn't know what would happen in the final laps of the race. It's happened several times before where something has happened to the leader in the final laps such as a sudden puncture, lost gear or running off the track and losing time as they rejoin. Mercedes should have been pushing with one of their cars to ensure that they were in the position to take advantage of any slip ups or problems with the Red Bulls ahead of them.
It's sad that both teams were happy to accept their positions after the final pit stops rather than continue to race until then end.
