Which irons - my dilemma

I will probably regret this post... I have hopped from iron to iron looking for the best consistency and best looks. I had x16,s for some time, tried titleist DCI,s on a whim, as well as MP32,s, (my god great when they went well but...), fitted with G10,s and then have gone back to x16,s. I play off 16 but on most courses the will translate to 14. I hit driver ok and two putt mostly. I have no problem getting the ball airbourne but struggle with iron approach accuracy, pull left, push right etc. I fancy some Ap2,s and work hard but worry i will be setting myself up to fail. I hear great things about G20,s as well as MX200/300/JPX. I saw an impressive review of Idea,s latest offering and who should discount cobra. I want to move on and should probably forget beauty and thin top lines and go for practicality. Anyone else suffering?

I've gone from TM R7 game improvers to blades and, I can say, I will not be going back.

Can I ask how long you kept each set?

Chopping and changing isn't going to be good for gaining consistancy with your irons.

Might I suggest a lesson. At least you'll find out why you are pulling/pushing your irons.
But I'll tell you one thing for nothing, it's not the irons fault

All my clubs are like yours one day they go long and straight and another they take a liking to playing hide and seek in the trees!
:) if you figure out how to make them behave all the time please feel free to PM me......:)

I had G20's fitted 4 iron - 9 iron and I'm really comfortable with them.

Friends on much lower handicaps than me (9 - 15's) try them and also say how good they feel.

I have Tour S Wedges to go with them.

I had some TM TP Cavity Backs but I wasn't happy with the trajectory or distance lost, sold them and bought a set of Cobra S2 Forged on special at £299 from Clubhouse Golf and I've never looked back.

They have feel, looks and consistency, the bonus is they they're just right for the player looking to buy better players irons who wants a good level of forgiveness but is not quite ready for blades.

Go to the Belfry National Fitting Centre - costs £50 but treated like a pro and get money back if you buy from them (similar deals to most retailers). Simple

Anyone know a trackman facility in north london/home counties? Please?

Closest Flightscope (same principle, and I believe the original) serviceseems to be in Radlett (Radlett Golf Centre).

However, any good Pro should be able to fit you 'by eye' as they had to before Trackman/Flightscope was invented!

Have you tried the Mizuno DNA thingmijig? That will suggest a few shafts for you which sounds like the problem.
The G20's are not much different to the G10 and G15'S really having tried them both. You sound like me always chopping and changing lol! Find a head you like and then get fitted for the correct shaft, trackman is great for that.

Dont be scared of musclebacks. Hit some they might work for you. I also like the way the G20's feel and look except the head is a little on the larger side but some people prefer that

keef! Sort it out! :)

If you can't do well with X-16s, there's no ****** hope.

They are easily the most forgiving iron of all time (not counting all the hybrid/wide sole crud that Callaway sell).

I spent 10 months trying to find a useable set of X-16s and gave up after finding some X-18s down the road for £189.

They're ugly, they're old, they're awful in the short irons, but they forgive!

Keep the faith. :)

Cleveland CG16,stunning irons, never a slice or push always straight and alot more distance ...

Oh as it happens just seen some in for sale section:thup::thup:

I'm just looking for a set of irons at the moment too and had a fitting the other day. It was really good to see some of the stats and get to try a few different club heads, shafts etc back to back. Generally i could hit most of the irons quite well, my usual swing faults were showing up with them all too!!!

There was a huge variation in feel and distance (Taylor Made RBZ-WOW) and I think I will repeat the process when I am looking for a new driver.

Was recommended Ping I20's FWIW-great Irons.
