Car park every time. Same as 99% of golfers that I come across at my club or others that I play at. I've yet to meet anyone in person who cares about this. Only on this forum is it an issue.

I used to change in the car park but decided I might want to have a look and see what the locker room looks like! Low and behold there is a plethora of information on the boards in there so decided I'd start changing my golf shoes in there instead.

Funnily enough a few weeks after doing that, the club posted notices around the clubhouse asking people to change their shoes in the locker room! Never really asked why; think it might be seen as good etiquette.

I think the only person I see who has an issue with where people change their shoes is the OP

The only other issue people would have I suspect is people not respecting the clubs rules etc - so if there is no rule - change your shoes where you like , if the club ask you not to change them in the car park - then don't

To be honest, it only takes about 15 seconds to change shoes, even if the club did have an issue with it, they'd have to be watching the car park like a hawk to catch anyone.

Car Park unless having to go into the clubhouse before play when I'll use the changing rooms. If I see a sign about no changing shoes in the car park then I'd probably still do it just because I can

I play at the (deliberately) most informal club I've ever encountered. I generally change in the car park, but if I do venture into the clubhouse first, then I'll likely change in the locker rooms - that also have fantastic showers!

Last week, I didn't actually bother to change shoes anyway - as the spikeless Icons that i had on were fine for the course! And having just acquired a pair of Ecco Bioms, it's likely I won't be changing shoes anywhere for the next 4 months or so!

Should I go to a club that insists that changing only happens in changing rooms, I'll more than likely respect that - though I have 'lost' gear (aka had it stolen!) from changing rooms - my club even! - in the past!

I should add, for those that are vexed by this issue, I have genuinely never seen a sign in any golf club car park asking people not to change their shoes in the car park. If I did I would go to the changing rooms. In the meantime, car park it is.

My club has a sign in the car park!

My club also do not allow golf shoes of any kind in the clubhouse, exvept the spike bar and changing rooms.

I put mine on in the changing rooms as I store them in my locker. If I go to another club I'll change in the car park. I've never seen a sign that says no changing shoes in car park but if I did, to be honest I think I would probably ignore it. Doesn't do any harm.

Also, it wouldn't stop me going back into the clubhouse after, I'll be wanting food and a drink.

We have a cleaning station with aire gun etc and brushes etc to clean your shoes ad trolley. you have to pass it to get to the changing park.

Lol. Think you have come up with the new all in one name there.

I usually change in the car park. Main reason is that the golf shoes are kept in the car.

Our club used to have a sign but I have not seen it in a while.

All the shoe cleaning stuff, compressor, boot scraper and brushes are near to the changing rooms. It's the people that do use these before walking in to the changing room that gets the most angry comments.

And we wonder why it is hard to attract young people to the spot!

What does changing shoes have to do with attracting young people to the sport - every time one of these threads happen that line keeps getting trotted out with zero substance behind to justify it

Why.....because mummy isn't there to to tie their laces?

If a club has a rule on it, I follow it. My club has a rule on not changing shoes in the car park, and I have no problem with that. And for those thinking it's only old farts who play the game. we have quite a good number of young and "yoof" players who have no problem following the clubs rules.

I just do not understand the need for a rule or request over this. Who ever decided this and then puts up a sign in the car park saying it(yes seen lots of such signs at golf clubs)

You do not have these kind of rules at a tennis club, football club, bowls club etc. Just a rule for the sake of a rule imho.
