My own arrogance was, to a certain extent, left in tatters last night. After struggling off the tee and, to a certain extent, into the green for weeks I decided to hit the range last night before our matchplay knockout. After only hitting a doz balls, working on what I know my swing should look like I left the range for the first tee.

Cue middle of the fairway, par 5, well down and a 5 iron into the green. And so it continued all the way round. Perhaps the best being on a longer, uphill, par 5. An immense drive followed by a 6 iron. Or perhaps it was on the last hole. 1-up, an immense drive reached a fairway bunker I've never reached before leaving a 6 iron to the green. BOOM! It flew out of the sand and finished 6ft from the hole - now that's proper golf!!

From my PP, "I've never seen you hit the ball so well and so far."

My petard has been hoisted. Warming up is a must.

Somebody I know once said "Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then!!" :D

I cut out of work early yesterday to have a long warm up before my round. Chipped for 20 minutes, 20 minutes on the range and 10 minutes on the putting green.

End result: an eight on the first (par 4) and a nine of the second (par 5). I then played the next 16 holes in +7.

Golf, eh?
