When things go wrong.....

I use to have a real head in the sand attitude that the next hole would be better and to trust my pre-shot routine and swing. I now try and play each hole on its merits and so if I'm hitting driver poorly I'll look at where a shorter club will leave me, my score (or match situation) and assess the pros and cons. I don't believe in having a favourite club.

I should of course have taken my own advice on Saturday and pulled the 3 wood on sixteen as intended having come off a sloppy double. I had it in my hand (and it was downwind) and put it back. Snap hook OB.

As I said...... I'm trying!

Do you have a plan B?

When you're out there and the wheels fall off, do you have a swing thought/favourite rescue/favourite iron that you can rely on.
As I dont have a handicap to worry about, I experiment alot on the course.
Sometimes a new swing thought works for a few days, sometimes months but in the end, I always go back to my old trusty swing. Not as powerful as some of the young bucks on here, but it gets me round.
So can you fall back on a swing or favourite club when things go wrong?

The wheels fell off the engine fell out the doors fell off the wheels were stolen and they were so mean they didnt even put it up on blocks on me last weekend.....It was my own fault really for playing ball on saturday after 8 months of a lay off..(Stiff and very sore Muscles).
I was playing half decent until i hit the 11th......No amount of liquid or food could get me the energy i needed....Everything went to Pot......
So i just hacked my way around the course and finished 9 over par for my handicap of 18 and another 0.1 back.....

There was no point in trying something new or old for that matter i was honest with myself in that sense.....
Im just looking forward to this weekends stableford now and hopefully things will change....
But i never throw in the towel....

It depends when the 'wheels falling off' happens.

My first handicap card, I was 4 over par standing on the 15th tee. Hooked my drive OOB - took a 9! Completely deckchaired me! With three holes to play I couldn't motivate myself to play decent golf.

Sunday was our monthly medal. I started bogey, triple and was looking at a proper rubbish round. I pulled myself together and managed to go out in 39. I decided to fold again and went double, par, quadruple (10, 11, 12). I had another stern word with myself and went birdie, par, par. Things were looking up until I finished bogey, bogey for a nett 73.

This really is a most stupid, frustrating game!

No plan B, just an attitude that I'll try to make the best score I can with whatever swing I have on the day.

Some days it just doesn't feel right, just have to make the best of it.

Still beats shopping :)
