When playing off fairway mats through the green, can the competition be classed as a qualifying competition for handicap purposes?

Slightly o/t but may be interesting for courses still using winter tee mats.

At one of my old courses in the 1970's I placed winter tee mats behind the medal tees on about five holes.
This was quite easy to do as the path structure was already in place. [ie build a winter tee where the path ended.]
It also has the advantage of levelling the overall distance of the winter course when shorter tee mats are placed.
Another advantage was that on short par 4's it gives the normal landing/pitching area a bit of a rest. [5/6 irons used from back in the fairway instead of wedges from the same spot summer and winter]
It was not popular to start with as members were used to playing a much easier course, after a few months everyone just accepted it.

My club had a couple of medals last winter where you had to use a mat when on the fairway. They were counters off a full length course.

Looks more like someone who had a simple question to ask to me.
Nah. They have 1 single post. The title of the post is the exact same as the text in the post. Their user name ends with 4 digits, which is another marker (although it appears to be the email address for this golf club - http://www.avrogolfclub.co.uk/), plus they have not come back since or posted anything.

I could be wrong of course, but this site does get a lot of bots joining.

I understand what you are saying but there is no reason for a bot to post at all; they can simply join and not post and have the same options.
Arguably they don't even need to join on a public forum...but that's taking it to the next level!
