...to replace a club?

I ask because I'm contemplating a new driver, but don't really 'need' to. I've had my R9 since April 2010 and bought it second-hand to replace my package set one which was, quite frankly, a bit crap. It made a huge difference and part of my thinking with the R9 was that the adjustability would allow my swing to change if needed. Turns out I've not changed the setting since I've had it. My driving has since become one of strengths - I do have bad rounds but during the last few months it's been a solid affair but for some reason I keep picking up new drivers in the Pro Shop wondering 'what if'.

Had a waggle with the i20 this morning and love it even more now that I've seen it in the flesh. I plan on taking one out for a hit this week but I keep wondering why I'm bothering. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?! So why am I feeling the need for a new shiny? Is this wonderful forum becoming a bad influence?! ;)

How do you decide it's time for a change?

when it is broke, feels broke, might be broke, relative performance suggests it could be broke - but never when it ain't broke; unless of course I have some vouchers and happen to pick up a new shiny one that I just know will be better.....:)

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I have 2 or 3 drivers in my golf shed, all of which are OK, and get the "nod" every now and again.

A change can be as good as a rest, but don't get rid of a good worker, and don't go spending a fortune.

Wise words Dave and I don't want to spend any money. Just a nagging desire to buy a new driver. I think the whole process of falling in love with a club is the issue, more than anything! I need to be grateful for the relationship I have, and not want a younger, sexier model...

The spare room is full of clubs I've bought because I thought I needed them. Turns out they usually perform well for a short period of time and then the magic wears off and I'm as rubbish with it/them as I was with the predecessors. Doesn't stop me looking at the shiny new stuf coming out
