I play my best golf in the evenings -I just feel more relaxed. However, I play at 09.37 on Saturdays as it gives me the whole afternoon to do family stuff. Some of our best players play at 06.00 in the morning and another group playes circa 14.00 - so when do you feel you play your best golf??

Usually when there's not a card in my hand.

If I go and play 9 holes after work I tend to play best. No surprises there.

Played a bounce game with a mate of mine on saturday and save for a ridiculous par 5 15th where I lost 3 balls on the same hole, I was playing consistently but putting pretty terribly. Missed 3 or 4 birdie chances and at least 4 par chances from inside 10 feet. Struck the ball well for most of the round and my short game was still, on the whole, pretty nice.

One of these days it will all come together.

I have found that if I go out to play after work, even a half day, I play rubbish. I have no idea why but definitely play better in the morning.

Definitely Morning.

Yesterday, after 2 nights out in a row, tee'd off mid morning and went round in +4 gross, probably my best round ever as it was really windy and everyone else was struggling badly.

Comps are mainly Saturday afternoon so I get to the course just in time having raced around after my daughter all morning!! My results in comps are fairly inconsistent!

I play all my competition golf on saturday mornings as close as I can to half 9. I go for a swim first and do a small bit in the gym to loosen out and then tee off. I feel alot better after a swim before golf, swing alot better

I'd have to say the evening, but probably not so after a day at work.
Used to play at 6.30am,but never really played that well at that time of the morning if i'm honest

Well after my round yesterday I'd have to say afternoon/evenings suit me best. I felt very relaxed and just happy to be out enjoying a great course in decent weather.

I suffer the same, I find it takes me 6/7 holes to slow my swing down, by then the damage is done. I think its because we look forward to playing golf so much and want to play well matched by being stupidly busy. Golden rule, no medals/comps after work!

I play best in the morning and my very best golf is reserved for when I have a kicking hangover or am still recovering from the night before. No idea why but hungover golf seems to suit me.

I can't hit the ball outta my way with a hangover - and one of my 4ball plays his best when hungover ?????

4.30 am if last years Macmillan Longest Day is anything to go by. 39 points and bleary eyed. I tend to play in the morning at weekends as a rule anyway so usually enter the drawn part of the comps to get a morning start in those too. Club matches tend to be afternoon (or closer to midday now its starting to get dark earlier again) which tends to throw me. I usually wake up at the same time regardless as I have to be up early for work and so have to spend hours waiting before going to play in the match. I tried going to the range for a bucket to kill time but ended up feeling tired (and lacked confidence after a less than successful bucket) so not I just read a golf mag and flick through the forum until its time to go
