In particular irons. I am looking to maybe getting fit for a set of irons but ideally would like to look when this years/last years models are reduced to make way for the new stock arriving.

Does anyone know best time of the year when the stock changeover happens?

AG aren't what they were imo. For example mizuno irons. I got fit for jpx 925 and been playing them 2 months already and they don't even stock them yet. Still charging full whack for 923s

I'd be tempted to go get fit independently and then use your specs to pick up what you fancy

Thanks for the reply. I get what you're saying, I was not particularly bothered about getting latest models How do you mean fit independently? You mean see the local pro at club/range for the specs? If so what specs should I be looking for?
I like your way of thinking but doesn't that mean you'll only have leftover stock to get fitted from?

Yeah I guess, but they do custom fit also.

You mean see local pro at club/range and see what they advise re: loft, shafts, etc?

Yeah see a local fitter

My pro who gives me lessons is a fitter

When he fitted my driver we tried different shafts, heads etc until we found the best combo

When he fitted my irons we again tried about 7 shafts. Found the best one. Tried different brands and upright or flat lie

Built the specs and orders

He charged £50 for each fitting but was waved when I bought the clubs which were price matched to any website which basically made it as cheap as buying online but actually my spec

It’s not often that the price of custom fitted irons drop across the industry. The price of the stock sets will drop but not as much, if at all, on custom.

You will get offers that the brands will make industry wide, Cobra 7 for 6 on Darkspeed for example is available just now.

Thanks RedKing. Well as an upside to this post, I went to a retailer yesterday with the intention of buying new clubs, we went through the different choices on offer and the fitter came to the conclusion that my current clubs were performing just as well, so didn't feel change was necessary, which was a refreshing change! Can't fault their honesty!
