• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

When did it all go Baps Up!

and if you are that desperate to see a doc, surely you are not well enough to be working?

How would you know that if you are not a Doctor? Say you have a pain in your leg and think it may be a thrombosis but can still walk. Do you take the view that it's not important?

GPs see 90% of NHS consultations and 9%of NHS funding, you want easier appointments then a large redirection of funds is needed and 10yrs to train all the extra GPs.

Guys a good option is nhs 111 service. If you can convince them on the phone that you need to be seen by a doctor. The. They can book you in the same afternoon. Apparently each gp must keep a slot for 111 calls.

Used it twice and was seen the same day on both occasions

You'd have thought so but HID rang them at Christmas when she was pretty bad and they were absolutely flippin useless. To be fair, with them as backup you really don't want to be ill!

If I want an appointment in advance it is usually a two week gap minimum. Normally you have to phone up on the day at 8.00 and its a lottery if you can get through and if there are any spots left when you do get through. Now we've moved to the other side of Bracknell we are technically out of their area (its only seven miles further out) and they are trying to make us join our local surgery which is even more horrific. On the plus side, if you do get an appointment then usually run pretty close to time. The new surgery we are being told to join have a reputation. You can wait anything from 15-60 minutes longer than your scheduled appointment which is ludicrous

Our practice has a mix of systems.

Mon,Tue Thur,Fri mornings you ac turn up and wait in the waiting room for one of two doctors on a first come first served basis.

All day Wednesday and evenings there are appointments. If you are ill, you go early. Neither of us has failed to get to see a doctor if we turn up in the morning.
