What's your course like at the moment?

Ours is pretty good, and starting to look like a decent golf course again. Just a few scabby patches on the fairways. We are still on Winter rules though.

Played up at S&A yesterday and it was in glorious condition.. Fast, true greens. Velvety fairways and lush tees. I walked off the course without a single speck of mud on my shoes.. Then I have to head back to my place and it'll be like wading through a peat bog still... Very frustrating

Been closed for the weekend, cancelling Saturday's competition.... course has been hit hard by the rain, and more this afternoon has left it looking like the Florida Everglades.

Sodden and closed according to the website, couldn't play last week as I was oncall, this weekend would've been my first game but it appears the weather will win, always next week.

I think our course closed itself today, I popped in the pro shop for a coffee around 10am and nobody was on the course and the head greenkeeper was wanting to close it but nobody was going to turn up anyway!

Don't hold up much hope for tomorrow's comp as it hasn't stopped raining all day and there's more forecast during the night and first thing in the morning :(

as it should be! winter rules all year round wouldnt be a bad thing. would solve landing in a divot for sure

I hope that never happens :(

I dont want to start a whole debate (but it probably will) but why do you hope this? If I hit a ball say 200 yards straight and it comes to land in a divot on the fairway (left because someone hasnt repaired it) why should I be punished for something I couldnt aim to miss 200 yards away

I have always wonder why people are so dead against this. if your on the fairway only whats wrong with moving the ball 6 inches (no nearer ofc) to get relief from a divot

It's called rub of the green - it's such a rare occasion as well.

Winter rules was brought in to help protect the course a little and to ensure your not landing on greens with balls covered in mud etc.

Picking and placing isn't really golf is it

ah I understand, fair enough that does make sense

however would you say that relief from a divot would be a good rule to have?

Not really no - because then how do you judge what is a divot or not - would open up a can of worms

Play the ball as it lies. Fundamental concept of golf from the very beginning

WP was open and wet but at least trollies have to stay on the buggy path.
E has been open and no problem at all.

Can't see WP being open tomorrow, I know they went 9 holes earlier in the week. Had 5 holes out on course with Angus on weds night, 3rd hold was temp green and 1st/11th fairways were wet. Didn't venture to the lowest parts of the course like the 7th green and 15th/16th.

Shut!!! Members moaning about missing a weekend of golf, which I understand is frustrating, however, it should've been closed a few times to protect it during the heavy rain over the past few weeks!

our first 5 medals of the year have been cancelled - very frustrating but needs must.

played in our greensomes pairs comp tonight and lost 1dn. Me (9) and my mate (17) took our opponents (scr) & (8) down the 18th - every hole we played either off mats or preferred lies. our greens weren't great but it was close all the way.

course is no way near ready for playing medals, but its the same for everybody - so i say, bring it on :D
