What's your choice of ball and why?

Re: What's you choice of ball and why?

Am seriously thinking of going back to the old "Supersofts"....all joking aside, they do seem to travel better off the driver.
And they stop quicker on the greens. Definitely.

Went back to the Supersofts for my match yesterday, and despite losing I am going to stick with them.
Became evident fairly early on in the round how much better these fly off the driver, much better distance and "feel".
I love 'em.
Just ordered a couple of dozen more off of Amazon @ £15.97 a dozen inc. delivery. (Cheapest I could find anywhere).
They really are a fantastic ball for the money.

Loving my Vice Pro+, although I donated 1 to our pond on the 3rd yesterday, but then still made a 5 with 3 off the tee, what a mad game :o

Re: What's you choice of ball and why?

I've got to say, I know we are amateurs and the best of gear doesn't make us better but saying any ball will do at our level really doesn't ring true with me.

To be honest I would happily play any ball just about but I would need to play that ball all the time. There's so many small differences between the manufacturers that I couldn't chop and change as consistency is sacrificed then.

Even when you have the same sort of ball (Pro V1 v TM TP) you can feel differences. I recently bought TM's 2016 Tour Preferred and can tell a difference from last years model. They are better and I like them but I can feel a difference. I couldn't deal with feeling these differences every round I play.

Re: What's you choice of ball and why?

I found one of these in my round the other day so I tried it out and was very impressed - everything seemed soft but still seemed to fly very well!

Now i also know they're that price I will buy some!

I have been using the CXR Controls (cheap option) but thought for the price they were great!

Re: What's you choice of ball and why?

Callaway Hex Chrome because they were £25 for 2 dozen and after trying them I bought 2 dozen more. Nice balls, feel good off the face and easy to find as they are bright yellow. Callaways premium balls before the Chrome Soft. I know some people have said they have had trouble with wear on them but I can say that I have been playing with the same ball now for 4-5 rounds and it's only just showing any sign of wear. In fact I would say they are incredibly resilient. One of my playing partners the other day commented on how new they looked when I told him how many times I'd played with it. And the hex dimples are meant to be better in the wind as well, an ever present on my course. And I have to say the wind doesn't tend to move it as much as other balls I've used.
