What's the length of your course?

Yellows - 5,867 Par 68, SSS 69

Whites - 6,161 Par 69, SSS 70

From reading the thread (and I know not everyone has put up the numbers) it seems that my course is a bit unusual in that the SSS is higher than par. Most places seem to be equal or have SSS one below par.

Orange - 6166 par 73 sss 72
Whites - 6329 par 73 sss 73
Blues - 6760 par 73 sss 75

All in meters so add another ten percent or so for yards.

Length isn’t all that...................so if a course is 7000 yards and it has three or even four par fives then the rest of the course could be relatively short, or shortish.
You could play a shorter course that has no par fives, but has some bitch long par fours.
The Hirsel, not the longest golf course, Dodgers place. You cant just fire away at a 320 yard hole thats tree lined with a tight dog leg for the last 120 yards.

Totally agree mate. I'm really just looking at the average course lengths of forumers. I've felt mine was a touch too short for a while and looking at the posts so far then at just over 6000 yards it is. The CSS is 69 off a par of 70 but I think it plays easier than that if you are a fairly long hitter.

The new course gives a much more varied series of tee and approach shots and the extra length makes it more compatible with some of the premium courses that I play over the year.

6341 off the whites and 6072 off the yellows... Par 71.... Real good test as you have to be pretty straight... Higher SI par 4 holes leaves you 4/5/6 iron in...

Ours is only 5438 but it's ALL tree lined so you have to be straight or your buggered.

Only 1 par 5 but 3 220+ par 3's which are hard holes.

Oooooooooooft. That's a challenging course at that length. Where did you move to as your last track looked stunning.

Reds - 5441
Yellows - 6263
Whites - 6545

There's not a great difference between the yellows and whites to be honest. The 17th becomes tricky as you have to play a dead straight drive to get out of the alley created by the trees.

It is a course that so far I love playing and as you know yourself it is rarely plays the same. It is in great nick at the minute although a touch of rain wouldn't go amiss ;)

We've had rain yesterday and today. Its to start heating up this weekend so fingers crossed the courses will come on an absolute treat.
