In a pro shop recently I spied a tan leather sports holdall. The typical size/shape of a thing you'd use for lugging your change of clothes/shoes etc to change after golf, little bit different to the typical branded sports bags we all use. I've always regretted not buying something similar I saw in a Spanish market many many years ago for about 40 or 50 euro because I didn't get the price down enough and was short on cash

Asked the price for this and was told there's 10% off just now so that was £100 Ouch, a wee bit pricey but I'm still slightly interested so I go over to get a closer look but before I could check out the zip action I see that its priced at £1,000 so the lady actually meant that £100 was the 10% discount! I ran away

What stuff is lurking in your pro shop that would make you weak at the knees?

Was in Megeve, (France) about 5-6 years ago and saw a golf bag in the window of a clothiers - who also sold sportswear & some sports goods. Was a really nice bag in orange & brown leather (Doesn't actually seem that nice when you write it down, but it was). Any how, bag was £3,500 - which nearly made me fall over.

But as it was only x3.5 the price of your holdall, I now realise it was in fact fairly reasonable ...

Beautiful cork one in Funchal last week - I didn't ask the price.....but I did pay the bill for the cork bag the boss had chosen 😢

Pro-shop at my favoured course is just all run of the mill stuff, nothing of prestige like mentioned here.

Pro-shop at my more local and sociable course has almost zero stock, he orders everything in direct via a local Golf Retailer which works quite well when you build up a little credit on your account you don't feel too guilty asking him to order something decent in. He does however have a lot of signed memorabilia which he occasionally puts on sale at some hefty prices. I won't mention names but we have a caddy for a well known euro tour player so he gets access to a lot of stuff which he typically sells for charity.

The pro-shop now is basically a snooker hall, one full size and very expensive snooker table in his pro-shop which we regularly play on now which probably makes him more money than the mars bar sales. It's a shame i'm terrible and maximum break to date is 11.

Most stuff in our pro shop is less than reasonable.Always amuses me the Galvin Green rack,my waterproofs (camping shop,35£!) spend 50 weeks of the year stuffed into the bottom of my bag with an empty ball sleeve and wine gum wrappers and they want north of £200 for a jacket! Errr no thanks
