What's everyone up to for Hogmanay/New Year then?

Usual for us - quiet night in with a pizza and perhaps half a glass of wine for me (lightweight)!! Will make it just about til midnight and watch the fireworks from the window and probably sound asleep by 12.15...

Just how I like it - some might say boring but one of my favourite poems is by Wendy Cope...

If you ask me 'What's new?', I have nothing to say
Except that the garden is growing.
I had a slight cold but it's better today.
I'm content with the way things are going.
Yes, he is the same as he usually is,
Still eating and sleeping and snoring.
I get on with my work. He gets on with his.
I know this is all very boring.

There was drama enough in my turbulent past:
Tears and passion-I've used up a tankful.
No news is good news, and long may it last,
If nothing much happens, I'm thankful.
A happier cabbage you never did see,
My vegetable spirits are soaring.
If you're after excitement, steer well clear of me.
I want to go on being boring.

I don't go to parties. Well, what are they for,
If you don't need to find a new lover?
You drink and you listen and drink a bit more
And you take the next day to recover.
Someone to stay home with was all my desire
And, now that I've found a safe mooring,
I've just one ambition in life: I aspire
To go on and on being boring.

Been there done that bought the tee shirts and thrown up on them, had the fights and the fallouts, the silences the next day, kissed the wrong women at the wrong times and always regretted it. I've believed things will be better next year...it never is and never will be, spent a fortune in clubs and pubs chasing the dream new years eve. No more, I'm older, a lot wiser and know that for me the ideal new years eve is a few drinks on the sofa watching drivel on the box. kissing my beautiful wife at 12 and going to a warm bed contented and looking forward to my new years day dinner.
If you are going out I hope you enjoy it...wishing you a very happy new year and a fantastic 2012
All the best Drawboy.

I have a new role model.

Quiet night in tonight with the family. No plans to go out, even round the doors locally. Weather permitting , out to play some golf tomorrow morning at the club in a 2 club and putter (and hip flask) comp. Probably have a drink or two in the bar before heading home for the ritual steak pie :D

A Good New Year to everyone, wherever you are.

Just off to entertain the crowds of Newquay @ The Central (7th most popular venue for NYE in the world) Hope you all have a happy New year and a prosperous one... ;0)

We'll have 5 adults + 7 kids (aged 8-15) tonight. Should be a great party, lots of music, a few games of beer pong, laughter and a wish for 2012 to be better than 2011.

Have a good one, y'all !

Just back from a week at the In-laws so unpacking and getting the first of several loads of washing going.
HID is wotking tomorrow and her alarm goes off at 5.30 so I doubt we'll make the bells.

The Boy will spend tomorrow playing with his new Wii game so I'll have plenty of time to catch ip with the forum - been looking in a little but will have missed quite a bit..

See you all next Year!

Have a good one.

Doing nothing at all. Staying in with the Mrs and little one and getting a few pizzas in. Im only mid twenties but cannot be bothered to waste a fortune on NYE. All the best to everyone whatever you are doing tonight and stay safe you heavy drinkers.

Happy New Year everyone

Im on a 12 hour nightshift , few hours sleep tomorrow then off to sis in laws for dinner then out again for another 12 hour shift.

awe the best for 2012 when it comes:thup:

I do miss the party in our local. It use to be a great night for regulars only but as I can't drink anymore (well I've 2 cans of Fosters chilling as a treat) what you can't have you don't miss. It seems a lot of the guys I played with today are having low key evenings. Its an expensive night out these days.

At least I'll be bright eyed any ready to rock in the morning. Not got a game booked so rocking up about 7.30 and looking to hook up with a roll up or someone going out.

EPIC FAIL!!!!

Missus decided to stay in so that's a good result :)

M-I-L just rang up. It's rubbish where they are so her and her dobber-toting friends are coming round. Yippee

Gary, give me your phone number and I'll phone you up pretending to be an old friend who's broken down 2 hours away. Then you can go down the pub

Was due to go to friends in Broadstairs, but can't be arsed

Sitting at home with the wife, some nibbles and reading the forum

So tempting.

I've retreated to the solace of my boudoir, hopefully none of them will try to find me :eek:
