What would you improve about your course?

The greens have really come on and running well. Would be happy with the guarantee though. Nothing worse than coming up 6 foot short because one green is slower than the rest.

Would be interesting moving the tee 30 yards forward on the 8th. Real risk reward....

and make it a par 4 to force the hand toward driver...
still think it's a nice 5 from the back tee, been on in two there with two 3irons before when the course was running firm

6ft short eh?...might be a little bit of user error there
think a lot of the clearing of bundai over the past couple of year's is with airing the greens and fairways in mind. the 9th green used to be a slow runner before they cleared the big hedge behind it and the 11th and 15th greens have both improved since the clearing.
to be fair most courses have some variation between greens - used to go out with the stimp and check 4 or 5 greens fairly regularly to keep and eye on it at my old course when i helped out on the greens.

The 15th at Chester Le Street

awful long par 4 (for a hacker like me) where even if I hit a decent drive I inevitably end up with a disgusting downhill lie

Re-do all the bunkers. Make the faces were firm and compact, so that the ball inevitably rolls to the middle of the bunker for the shot, and the bases lined properly so stones wouldn't come through. Only just enough sand, rather than the occasional beach that can be found

I would make knee length socks compulsory with shorts and jacket and tie at lunchtime to keep the riff raff out

It's really funny how taste in foot and leg wear differs from country to country, btw. While we Germans are internationally despised for wearing white socks with Birkenstock sandals (not on the golf course, though), British men are the only ones who can pull off the knee length socks with shorts and feel like they are the only ones doing it right :D

our bunkers are lined and they are a nightmare.
I have gone from a good bunker player to just happy to get it out.
they are to unpredictable and if you hit the lining where the sand is thin it's like hitting it fat off a driving range mat.
Linings are a nightmare and don't work.
The bunkers look good but are very hard to read I.e. How much sand under the ball.

I would like our greens to be a little quicker... especially after playing H&P the other night. We have a few areas in between holes that need tidying up to make it a little easier on the eye. Also, in one part, they have planted a ruck of thistles plants.... now they are a way off the fairway, but I see that area quite a bit and I ain't looking forward to going in there...

Bunkers, bunkers, bunkers.

I like the layout of the course - nice variety of long and short par 3,4,5 - plenty of trees and water - and the rough is only penal if you hit a stinking shot. The tees and fairways are in good nick. The greens are decent and roll nicely. The bunkers need a lot of work. Quite a lot are hard packed, not enough sand and plenty of stones. My bunker play isn't good at the best of times, but I don't think practicing with these ones will make me any better.

We have had a new greenkeeper for 18 months and he has really made a difference, the greens are in superb condition, I have yet to play on any s good this season. He has also done a lot of work on the bunkers, quite a lot were dug out and re done during the winter and all have had new sand, the only problem is that in some places the sand hasn't fully settled and so you do risk plugging in the face in some bunkers.
Another thing he has changed for the better is mowing under the trees, so at least if you are off line you can find your ball easier.

Not sure what can be done to improve things other than cosmetically and that its in the pipeline.
