Providing I enjoy the course, and it's in good nick, I'd look for the following,
A swindle, it must have a roll up that's open to new members or otherwise how else do you integrate with the club,
Drawn comps, this is a massive issue for me.

see that's the kind of thing I was looking for.
I've narrowed the choice to 3 on costs, location etc. Now I'm going to play them and want to check that they are "for me"
These, and "what are the plans for the future?" Are the sort of thing I didn't even contemplate.

In no order Reigate Hill, Reigate Heath and Surrey Downs. There are not too many south of me. Surrey Downs looks a little light on comps,just looking at the others now

In normal English, you must have played 3 medal/stableford comps to validate your handicap before being able to enter board comps/majors/comps with substantial prizes
It's the same rule at ours and was brought in as new members with a hc before joining had been know to clear up in the majors because their handicap wasn't as accurate as it should be

What I found funny is when I joined my place, I had a fully active hc with proof that I had just won two comps and been cut but it wasn't enough, I still had to do the 3 comp probation

Me on the other hand, they just took one look and said "nah, no chance, let him play". Sadly they were right.
