Hi guys,

I have space in my bag for another wedge but can't decide on loft. I have a 60 degree and my PW. I can't decide on a 56 or 52?

Which do people on here use the most? I know many people leave out the 60 but I generally get on v.well with this club so will be keeping it.

Any assistance would be appriciated.

I'd agree. One of the most used clubs in my bag is the 56* because its versatile(or is it because I'm allways in the sand :( )

No one needs a 60 this time of year i would go 52 56 is plenty of loft for any course.

I practise with my 60 regular but only take it our when its dry hard greens(so not very much) or when i play links with the fast greens though i think the links players among us have the skill to get around the course without a 60 in the bag

I agree that a 52 and a 56 will give you more options on a greater variety of courses and in varying conditions than the 60. I can open my 56 up and get more than enough loft and spin to play a lob shot and can play a number of great approach shots (low pitch and runs, punch shots etc) with the 52.

Its interesting to see that an increasing number of pros on tour are moving over to 4 wedges. This ties in a little with the lofts thread. As lofts have become stronger (not as much on the pro sticks but still a degree or 2), gaps have appeared in sets and more wedges come in to fill them up.

Rory Mclroy has recently dropped his 3 iron to play pw, 52, 56, 60. And guys like these have the ability to open the face and create shots. But they choose to have specific loft separation to give them a club for any short shot. As we know, the scoring comes from a good short game.

I know that from 200-230 yards I'm not going to find the green regularly but I can get there or thereabouts. So having more longer clubs isn't going to help me. With 4 wedges I don't need to manufacture a chip or a pitch shot so I can use a normal swing to get the ball to the hole from shortish range.

I have the 4 wedges, PW, 52, 56, 60 in my bag. I ilke the fact i can pull out a club for specific yardages. I tend to use the 56 in the sand and the rough around the greens quite often because of the increased bounce over the others. It probably is the most versatile
