Have to agree with the G10. But the G5 was a quality driver too so don't ignore it.

Test them all and find the one that gives you the best flight. A G10 may be too high, the Hyper X might draw a bit too much.

Oh and don't forget the sound. Why do they have to make drivers that shatter your eardrums every time you use it?

Have to agree. Tried the Mizuno 560. It was easy to hit and flew high and long. Never have i felt so self conscious on the range though. Everybody turned round when i hit. God it was loud.

Some drivers like my Yonex are not made for CF, the shaft is made specifically for the head and the grip specifically for the shaft so being marking down a manufacture due to them making their own shafts wouldn't be the best.

I agree that a horrible sounding driver is highly off putting but can some of you really say you would not sacrifice this in order to have a driver, if such a thing existed, that never missed the fairway and flew 300 yards every time. I think you should buy what ever driver you hit the best regardless of the sound, you will just have to get used to it! When people do blind tests now where the club is completely taped over to hide which manufacturer it is to avoid people being biased, they should also where ear plugs so it is judged purely on performance.

I tried the following 3 back to back a couple of weeks ago:-

1) Mizuno 560 - well made club and dirt cheap now it's been cut to around the £100 mark. I'm afraid , at least to me, noise is important and this was headache inducing. Wouldn't buy it even if it had been the best - which it wasn't.

2) Ping G10 - much better but came second of the three. All of my other clubs are Ping and I wanted this to be the best . While it was a good club it wasn't the best which went to...

3) TM Tour Burner - a pleasure to strike every time. Great feedback through the shaft. Quiet.

This would have been my choice and will bewhen I can justify throwing £200 at a stick which I might use 9 times a round.

I also believe your going to have to scratch the V2 from your list as it comes in at around £300 at the moment.

I have the cleveland Hi bore driver and it makes the Nike Sumo sound almost silent. Every time I hit it on a range people look but as I'm hitting it high and straight at the moment I am more than happy for them to watch. Ironically it never sounds too bad in the wideness of the course

Come on Stuart, you know you want the G10.
Go get it. You know it makes sense.
I had the same quandry around this time last year when I was thinking of getting an older driver as well as a putter, but afetr my fitting decided to get the new shiney G10.
I haven't regretted my decision for a singe minute.
I haven't met anyone with G10 who hasn't said it was the best driver ever.

Exactly the post i was looking for.

Its the G10 for me, sod the new gap wedge. A few ping demo days coming up at the end of the month. I will be going along to one now :)

I used to use Nike Sasquatch Sumo2 Square Driver but then reverted to the G10.

Not too sure which one I prefer as they are both pretty epic!!..anyone else used the Sumo2

Can't stand the noise, although a friend has recently bought one having sworn he would never do so because of the noise, and he is hitting it miles. Never say never.

There have been a few posts on here regarding petron stuff before, mainly regarding heads coming off. They are also sold over here through JJB, which is a very low budget operation where golf is concerned.

For value kit you are better off with Orca, Snake eyes, Ben sayers and MD, and avoiding the Slazengers, Maxfli's, Petrons, etc.

I've heard of some club heads coming off before....but have never seen it.

would quite like to actually see it for myself, would probably struggle to hit my next couple of shots through laughing so much
