I have small hands (for those that have the book exactly the same size as Jack). I do find though that the grip on my wedges seem inordinately skinny, perhaps because I habitually grip them well down.
What are the likely results from having too small a grip?
and if I get bigger grips put on
What are the likely results from having too big a grip?

I was told that big grips make squaring the club at impact more difficult - but I couldn't tell you why that is!!

I have midsize on all my irons & FWs, and regular on my driver with a couple extra rolls of tape!

grip too small generally leads to more wrist action through impact leading to a potential to be a bit hooky. Too large grips leads to less wrist action and more difficulty squaring the clubface.

your middle digit should just touch your palm when you take your grip.

I sometimes play with miss mini-RGuks clubs and like the skinny grips! 23rd has it bang on.....even one layer of extra tape is too fat for me.....and it shows on the course.

Maybe your irons are a bit thicker than the wedges.....my irons (the same) have a standard grip which matches my wedge collection.

If the grips are to skinny for your hands, the clubs will move about during your swing.

Again this leads us to the Custom Fitting side of things but the right size grip is just as important as all the other aspects.

When i was fitted for my driver, the pro measued my finger length and palm length and said i needed one extra layer of tape.

My Irons dont have the extra layer of tape and I can really tell the difference. I intend to get them all regripped with golf pride multi compounds in the next few months and have the extra layer of tape put on.

I don't know if its just me but...

I have quite long skinny fingers, and before I had my grip size increased, I found because the grip was too small I had to close my hand tighter to hold it. Obviously this tension wasn't good.

With bigger grips, I am able to hold the club with more relaxed hands, which makes a big difference to my swing.
