Praise the ....

Why's eveyone saying putting? FGS....you make a BAD score if you putt badly. Does having 32 putts keep your score low (for you, whatever standard that is?!*) if you nearly always have 32 putts.

Surely to answer the question "what keeps my score low when I'm not playing well", it can be any part of the game, and will be a different answer to "what is the secret to scoring well."

I had a poor driving day yesterday. I hit 4 fairways, had no view of the green for my approach 3 times, but scored 74 because I kept scrambling pars.

In that case the answer to the question "Which Part of your game keeps your scores low" would be..... birdies and pars :D

The poll does tend to show as expected the short game i.e putting and chipping helps us

The idea was to thought provoke what part of your typical game made the difference even when other parts had suffered on the day.

So would you dedicate 80% of your practice time to putting perhaps, boring i know but maybe a great way to keep scores low ( for you as an individual )

I guess also the course you play will have a bearing on this, long courses will maybe help if your driving and fairway game is good,

It just seems to always show that being a good putter can change your game

I put wedges but in honest most days I'm a 36 handicapper playing off 22 so nothing keep smy score low. I've been getting much better in the 100-50 yards region lately though.

Either way, what keeps my score low (for me) is getting down from anywhere on the course inside 100 yards in 3 shots at worst.

Nice work b.t.w. 74 with only 4 FIR.
