What Laws Would You Change?!

14 clubs. Why not more? Why not less?

There is an argument that golf would be cheaper if there were less clubs in a set. There would also be more emphasis on shot making, as you wouldn't always have the correct club.

Scrapping the handicap is interesting.

Especially seeing as the pro's play on a level playing field, yet a lot (not all) of other sports use a 'seeding' method to help the better players/teams.

Golf needs a handicap system, pure and simple. At the tour level, it doesn't - those boys are all brilliant.

If there wasn't a handicap system, I wouldn't enter competitions. It would be disheartening and demoralsing placing last.

While the 3 (or 2) divisions may work well (at your club), more divisions should eliminate the issues the 'low' cappers have of exceptional scores by mid/high-cappers - by removing them from 'their' part of the comp.

The problem is that in the 0-5 and 6-10 categories, certainly at my club there would be miniscule fields if not solo entries particularly in the lowest category. I don't really see a problem with a mid handicapper (and even then it only goes to 12 in division) shooting more points than a low guy. I accept that in stablefords the odds are against the low guy anyway but put it into a medal contaxt and I don't accept why it should be an issue if a 12 handicap comes in with a card say 4 under his handicap. It just means he played the best golf on the day. I justthink if you break it down too far you are really watering the competition down too much to try and protect the lower handicaps. And can you imagine how long prize giving will take if you are dishing out five prizes per medal for the year!
