What is your target for 2014?

Join a club. Depends on funds really though.

Play more golf. I only played 16 rounds this year and it wasn't enough.

Maybe buy a set of irons? Get custom fitted?

Play more Links courses. Royal St Georges, Princes and Cinque Ports are on my to do list.

H/cap is 8.5 and i'd like to be a 7 by the end of the season.

Stop tinkering with my swing and equipment and stick to what I have got.

Lars is an overseas member and is down May/Jun time, may be able to get you in on members guest rates. May I also suggest RND while your down this way and if the spring has been good a trip to Libbaton is worth your while.

Cheers mate. Am hoping to be over in Ireland at the end of May playing Lahinch and Doonbeg. Will be down in Devon at the end of July when the kids finish school. 2 weeks of golf, surfing, BBQ'ing and drinking.. Don't know what the wife and kids will be doing though..;)

Will take a look at Libbaton as well. RND has been on the list for 6 months after walking the course earlier in the year (we stay just outside Woolacombe)

To play with more forumers at some nice courses! Had a great time down at Royal Porthcawl with Fish, Drive4show and Wookie, looking forward to more of the same next year!

Enjoy golf & the craic that comes with it as much as I have done this year is the number one target. Had some great days out and met a lot of brilliant people.

Smash the handicap even more, hoping to get to at least single figures next year. Wont be chasing it as much this year though, just going to try and play my best and let it ride. I would like to be as low as possible like we all would but I think bothering too much about your handicap can sometimes detract from the enjoyment.

My wife and I just had a littl'un so even playing a bit will be nice.

My golf goals are:
1) conquer the nerves and perform to my potential in qualifying comps
2) related to 1), get a few cuts, would love to get to 12.
3) play a proper links course.
4) spend less money on golf equipment. Stop changing kit so much.

bring my scoring average down to the bottom half of the eighties
play my 200th track (current count is 192)
bring my wife's handicap down to 29 :)

Wanna get to single figures, the second that happens, I can finally be satisfied with my golf, and just play casually, really not bothered about the competitive side anymore

1. Got to play more, I'm wasting away on the sidelines.

2. Knock 3 shots off my handicap, which if I achieve 1. should be possible.

3. Play 1 championship course in this my 40th year. I would prefer Old Course but would settle for Gleneagles

Play more golf for one , play as many new courses as I can ( I collect ball markers , Got 2 picture boards full and filling up no 3 now ) get my handicap down to 4 or lower , my life time target since I started playing 15 years ago was 2 and still is .................. EYG

Maybe get to single figures, as I don't practice, and only play once a week unless there is a comp on, seems unlikely, so i'll be happy to stay at 12.

Mine is to play competitions with my 14 year old son he has just got his hcap of 25 and his is to get a lower hcap than me which is 14 and to play Celtic Manor

To enjoy my golf with no other targets,

+1

That's the ethos I have played by this year and it's been a great year for me. I've had a few cuts, got down to 18, came second in the club championship, played every game for the team and had an absolute ball doing so too.
I'll keep playing like this and see where it goes. The only place I take it really seriously is on the range but on the course I go out, have fun and play the game for what it is.

Good luck to all those who are setting themselves hard goals to reach for next year.

To enjoy my golf.....

I concur, I take it seriously but never too seriously. This helps.

Join a club, gain a handicap and actually get out and play and hopefully improve

Likewise, looking to join a club for the first time in Jan and get my card.

Break 80 - PB currently is 83 and that was......

Daveyboy, very similar to you it seems. My PB is 82 (SSS 66) or 83 (SSS 70) and I'm sure there's a sub 80 round in me. Very much sounds like there is with your good self, too.

Join a new club

Play more comps (especially with the NW.

Agree, enjoyed my two meets since joining the forum and look forward to plenty more in 2014.

Enjoy golf & the craic that comes with it as much as I have done this year is the number one target. Had some great days out and met a lot of brilliant people.

Smash the handicap even more, hoping to get to at least single figures next year. Wont be chasing it as much this year though as I've spent many an hour telling bunker walls how much I hate them....

Playing Bolton is one of my main targets though....

Would imagine/hope I'll come in around 15/16 for my first handicap (currently 15.3 tracking unofficially, started at 19 in June) and will set myself a 'loose' target of 13.5 by 2014 season end.
