What is your Official Current Handicap

After weekend comps, more often than not, results are not published anywhere online until following wed/thurs, like many clubs, we depend on volunteers and when questioned why it takes 3-4 days, we are often answered, if you think you can do better, you volunteer to help out! Which can/cannot be a fair point.

Then it is what it is

If you believe you should be cut you play of the lower HC against SSS and wait for any .1 back

Yep, just disappointing in this age of modern technology.

Will always need the human input regardless of modern technology though.

Doesn't your software have an online results page with a master handicap list on it ?

I get the fact of human input, the system we use is antiquated, we do not sign in, there is no live leaderboard, we use Masterscoreboard to publish to net, no online booking facility.
When you see how well other clubs do it, it is frustrating,

But you can check the master HC online instead of a sheet on the wall though ?

Yes mate, but only as good as last update, it's playing on a Mon/Tue and odd Weds after weekend comp and it hasn't been updated. I get the rules like you've posted, it's purely a frustration in the amount of time it takes comps to be published.

That's the same at any club in regards the update - we are all the same , I try and get the comp closed on a Monday but even then it's sometimes on a Tuesday.

At the last club I was at, Seaton Carew, we'd sometimes get them within 24hrs, you'd sign in and there woukd be a live leaderboard and current CSS, plus book online etc, so much more user friendly and yes I've proposed we change it for the last 2 years!

Would still need a volunteer to do it within 24 hours

"live leaderboard" is a strange thing because it will always depend on everyone putting their scores into the software when they have finished

Book online is a good thing and a must these days

Let's see. What happened to the old days when we were each responsible for posting our score on our individual handicap card, and calculating our new handicap based on those scores? Now we want to blame the volunteer who is supposed to post the scores for us and/or the computer which doesn't have the most recent scores that were supposed to be posted by the volunteer? It's "our" handicap, let's look after it "ourselves." Computers have not removed the personal responsibility.

Ours comps are finished Saturday evening this time of year and by lunchtime Sunday in summer. Whilst I agree it's a pain if it's left to one or two individuals, with a decent number on a committee sharing the responsibility this is hardly a big overhead. It takes no more than 30 mins max and all it needs is for a few committee members to be around on a weekend. I really don't think the "if you don't like it, get on the committee and do it yourself" argument is valid. People who go on committees (volunteers or not) should be committing to a basic standard of service to provide to members and to post results in a timely manner is about as basic as it gets.

30 mins ? Takes a bit longer than that and committee members do also have jobs and families and lives outside the golf club

What do you think a "timely" manner is ?12 hours ? Same day ?48 hours ?

We're the same Paul, though all that is to change shortly at Leeds Golf Centre the "Home of Modern Golf" ........ & can't happen quick enough for me, matey.

There are enough people in the pro shop there, why can't they simply 'close' the competition?

I've no idea what's involved but our results are always available online about 8/9pm the day of the comp (weekend comps at least).

Waiting 3 or 4 days would be a bit annoying after that.

For that to happen it would mean someone would have to come back in on a sat or Sunday night to complete the comp - check the cards against the scores put into the psi , enter any cards that haven't been submitted - with over 120 entrants it takes me over an hour

Do you have intollgent golf or HDID ? I know Intelligent golf has a live leaderboard

Not practical though is it, I know how I've played, but how would I know the CSS or an ESR is triggered. if it was down to ourselves Clubs wouldn't request Handicap Certificates, they'd just believe what we wanted to say.

Honestly no idea what system we use etc.

Every week the results are posted on the website by about 8/9pm the day of the comp.

Club isn't on HDID, published in the members section of the club website with comp results and handicap adjustments.

Would it be ok to find out what system they use ?

Losing the will to live with Club Systems and HDID and trying to find alternatives
