I recognised the 1st one Gary, played that hole plenty of times.
The second one I didn't recognise as I've normally picked up before I get that far down....

I've played it 5 times, and I don't remember scoring a point on it.

I normally keep well away from the water down the right by aiming at a squirrel in the woods on the left.

I have never scored a point on it and I must have played it more than 5 times.
A right bugger of a hole.
Stream all the way down the right hand side and teddy bear country all the way down the left.
It's a lovely hole but not very easy to play if you are a little bit wayward.

Sunningdale - the 5th on the Old is an absolute belter and I have had a look, but cannot find a picture that does it justice. On the New, I agree with PNW that the par 5 6th is a cracker.

8th at Lostwithiel. 140yd par 3 but a massive downward elevation change which meant you could go down 2/3 club lengths
Is that the one with the railway behind the green, and the path down from tee to green so steep that it has hairpin bends?
If that's the one you mean, IMHO it's a stupid hole. As a visitor you have no idea what club to hit.

(The fact my tee shot - which pitched on the left side of the green - just disappeared, never to be seen again could slightly influence my opinion, of course :-)

Just to throw a couple of different ones into the mix, I loved the 12th at Southerness. A simple dogleg but with good bunkering at the corner and the green poised on the edge of the Solway firth.

Good to hear the sullen bloke 10 yards behind you having a meltdown didn't detract from it too much :)

12th at Hopeman
18th at Moray old
11th hotchkin

i could go on all night.

PNW - Wonderful pictures. As someone who has not been to or seen Sunningdale they make me feel that I badly want to play it. Best with quite a few balls in the bag though as I suspect that heather may swallow a few.

(just googled it. Did you play the new or the old course?)

That was the new - the Old is equally wonderful although they are very different. Very expensive but worth it it once or twice - miles better than Wentworth

The Postage Stamp.

Played a few times shot varied from wedge to a 4 iron. Got a birdie the time I hit a 4 iron 😊

Just for the adrenaline and excitement while stood on the Tee it's got to be this hole.
With the audience behind and the starter informing us "This is a special place Gentlemen, play well" I've never been as nervous over a golf shot..

I hit a great tee shot but left a tricky 60yrd wedge to a tight pin and followed it with a nervous fat shot into the burn.

It isn't me in the Photo btw

I put my tee shot into the valley of sin.

The starter gave teenage me a row over the loudspeaker. No wonder so many juniors had a bad impression of golf back then!

How on earth did you manage that? It's almost 90* left. I bet you didn't know whether to laugh or cry :D

Over a loudspeaker! That's not really what you need before teeing there.
