Lots of comments on the Trump thread about some of the holes we played and it got me thinking.

What is the best hole you have actually played?

Could be for any reason......visual appeal, strategic test, location, you scored well on it.

The 18th at St.Andrews when +5 gross knowing I was going to achieve a life ambition and break 80. (And I did).

Some memorable holes I've had the good fortune to play:- #
The Presiach hole at Hopeman on the Moray Coast
The 8th on the Turnberry Kintyre
The long par-3 13th at The Addington
The 10th at the Belfry
The 1st at Machrahanish
The 18th at Carnoustie

Two for me, 17th at St Andrews Old, the Road Hole. Love the risk reward of cutting over the corner of the hotel and the narrow green with that infamous bunker nestled in the side of the green on one side and the wall and road on the other side.

The other, another 17th but TPC Sawgrass. Absolutely loved this for so many reasons. Mainly the fact that you could almost throw the ball the required distance but doing it with your 9 iron in hand and not being able to be short, Left or right makes it one of the most nerve shredding (while the ball is in flight) and most enjoyable fun hole.

1st at Murcar. So good I played it twice.;)

14th at Trump would be stunning off the back tees, but my favourite 14th is defintely the one at the Old Course St Andrews.

Favorite hole would be one at Royal County Down, but just can't choose which one. Our 11th and 18th holes are not bad.

2 for me and both experienced this week:
14th at Trump, breathtaking and 14th (Spectacles) at Carnoustie, that double green to finish the hole.

1st hole at Portstewart, the views down the beech to Donegal and beyond and standing on that tee with a huge drop to fairway then around the corner, a cracking hole

9th at my home club. its only 320 off the white and it can be either and easy birdie from a duffed tee shot or a double from a scorcher.

a hole that demonstrates that it does not need to be 460 yards to be a good golf hole

The Road Hole on The Old Course.

Cleared the sheds every time with my tee shot but have never found the putting surface with my second shots.

Have taken the advice of caddies and gone short right but have not succeeded with getting the chip close enough. I have also been in that b****y bunker.

My favourite is the 7th at Ballyliffin, Glashedy. Even with the old layout it took my breath away the first time I played it and now they've done work to it, it's a stunning looking golf hole. A tricky one as well thanks to the drop combined with wind that could mean one day it's a flick with a wedge and the next it's a full blooded driver.

That's how it looked on the 29th April this year. Unfortunately I found the left side bunker and I failed to get up and down for my par. Still I'd take a 4 there most days.

Nearly all the holes at Trump International , ( enjoyed reading all the players comments on their recent trip) but my favourite hole is the 4th hole (par 3) at Holyte golf club in East Sussex, tough hole but visually stunning .
