what is wrong with nike??

Nothing they make the nicest training shoes ;)

Seriously not a lot, some of the stuff now looks really good but when they first stated it might have been a different story.

The mocking is mainly tongue in cheek, but it's possibly to do with Nike coming heavy-handed into the golf world with massive budgets but no idea how to make decent gear (at first) Hence Tiger using his Titleist gear for the first few years of his Nike contract.

Most golf firms have built up a reputation over the years, and in a game steeped in heritage that counts for a lot.

They do make some good gear now though.

Nowt,

I had Pro Combo's and they were great, shafts were a bit flimsy but they were the Nike own brand.

Comfy shoes too..

My mate bought some VR blades from RickG and I must say they are stunning, beautiful things - he is well and truly sold on Nike clubs.

Nothing wrong with Nike.

Loved my Driver and still using the 3wood.

There clubs are very good and you can get great bargains on evilbay.

Nothing.

I've never really liked Nike, even footy boots when I was playing. Always seemed a bit "gimmicky", and they seemed to carry that over to their initial foray into golf.

I have Nike irons, 3 wood and wedge now and really like all of them. The irons in particular are great clubs (for me anyway).

Their clothing is pretty good! I really like some of the simplistic yet somewhat sophisticated designs they bring out!

They bring out so many designs, that there is always a particular batch being sold off cheap, so you can always find a bargain, whether it be in your pro shop, or online! :)

I'm quite impressed with Nike. I don't own any of their golf clubs, but I have two pairs of Nike golf shoes, I usually use a Nike ball, a Nike glove and have a few other bits and pieces.

I initially boycotted their gear on the basis of the eye-wateringly huge sum they paid Tiger Woods as soon as he turned pro. Over a period of time, though, some of their gear appealed and - if you shop judiciously - can be bought for reasonable money in my view.

How is he getting on with them?
I hit a Nike blade 7 iron the other day and it was a thing of sheer beauty......ask him if he wants to sell them back to me....... :o :D :D

Tiger did have Mizzy irons with a Titleist stamp on them though didn't he??

Don't hold your breath Rick, he is getting on with them really well!! I have had a few shots with them as well and they are superb, sit beautifully and have a lovely weight - sheer class. Why did you change?? :)

Most of their recent gear has been top. I was not a fan of the Machspeed black driver though, it seemed cheap and plastic like with an awful head cover.

Their irons would be on the list to try when I come to change.

Nothing. I play a mix of Nikes. Slingshot irons, SQ rescue, Dymo 3wood & Machspeed driver. Woods were all 2nd hand online bargains. Great deals out there on older models.
Lunar shoes are like slippers and PD soft is my winter ball of choice.

Agree they came on the market with big budget and iffy products, but they have deffo progressed from that

Check out The Oven on YouTube for excellent insight into their R&D dept
