Brysons round 1 at The Open. what went wrong?

Maybe if he was at renaissance the week before instead of Valderrama he’d have been going into that Portrush Thursday more in links mode.

Probably not though I’d just put it down to a freak round, the rest shows what he’s capable of

Suspect LIV will be trying to locate a links venue to add to their roster to slot in before The Open in future years. Proffesional links event are pretty unique, yet hugely popular - be good to see another event added to the schedule. Either that or some common sense is found and any LIV players that are alredy qualified for The Open are allowed to play in The Scottish - would need some tweaks to the LIV schedule of course.

Bryson pushes the boundaries all the time, so if it's going to go south for him, it'll be quite dramatic - as it was at Portrush.

How’s that re common sense. They have made there decision to play LIV and yet a common sense decision to play in non LIV Comps would help 🤔. I agree with KP. LIV should of sourced a links course before the open not the JCB after.

I’d imagine most spectators, event sponsors, partners etc - would appreciate having some of the worlds best talent added to the field. Infact, if there was no LIV event that weekend I’m not sure if they couldn’t have played anyway. LIV guys feature in plenty of DPWT events now, so it would require the PGAT stepping in to ban the LIV guys, as it is a co-sanctioned event.

I’m surprised that a visually arresting and appealingly unique course such as Trump Aberdeen hasn’t been used by LIV

I could see how Turnberry is best avoided as it still is in the offing for a spot on the Open rota, but somewhere such as Trump Aberdeen has no Open history credentials and is never going to host it….why not do a Trump Aberdeen event before the Open, the Open, JCB, and then Valdarama, as part of a European Swing

Think it’s being used for a seniors or DP T event ?

Edit - a new ET event in a couple weeks - Nexo Champs

He knows he only has three rounds in him. So, rather than finishing round 4 on a real low, he decided to sacrifice Round 1, take the gamble he'd still make the cut, and then at least he can have a good weekend and finish Sunday on a high.

The above was said tongue in cheek, so hopefully nobody gets extremely upset and offended by it :)

Yeah I saw that the other day, I’d like to think there is some context or something to redeem him after the clip has finished, but on the face of it that’s really poor from Bryson.

I watched the clip

What’s so poor? What did I miss?

Not sure it’s “light hearted”

was a touch blunt
It came across as light hearted to me, he was chuckling when he said “No, you’re fine”.
Quite sad that people try so hard to see any fault with competitors going about their normal business, especially when there are many many others who behave properly poorly.

I’m confused….Is this irony?

Because I can’t see what is supposed to be outrageously heinous about that interaction
I was being a little bit tongue in cheek as this has been doing the rounds as 'evidence' that his persona is all an act. In truth, I think he's been a little bit rude and dismissive of the guy - probably wouldn't have spoken to him like that if he knew a camera was on him? Not the end of the world though. :)

It’s not light hearted the way he spoke but it’s not as bad as portrayed

The Marshall was just helping and he talked down to him a little

As said - standard pro behaviour at times
