Brysons round 1 at The Open. what went wrong?

100% the first word out of Bryson gob should’ve been “thanks”, poor form & a tad rude not to, but not crimewatch levels
Ball spotter just did his job… but maybe also thinking if I stand still here, I’m definitely gonna meet Bryson!!... It’s the middle of The Open mate you’re not gonna meet him

It’s not light hearted the way he spoke but it’s not as bad as portrayed

The Marshall was just helping and he talked down to him a little

As said - standard pro behaviour at times
What is standard pro behaviour? Are they a different race to the rest of us human beings? :)

Even if anybody is offended in any way by this trivial incident, is it true that most professional golfers behave in the same way?

I watched the clip

What’s so poor? What did I miss?

For me he was unnecessarily rude. Could have just said “thanks, now could I have a bit of space to prepare and play”

Doesn’t need to go over the top with any gratitude, but think he missed a bit of common decency. I didn’t think enough of it to post about it though, whether tongue in cheek or not.

Yeah it was a bit condescending, talking down to him in a belittling manner. I think if he'd have simply said "Ok - thank you" the guy would have moved anyway.

After this clip Bryson asked him how far to lay up 100 yards short then ridiculed the ball spotter by telling him he couldn’t calculate it and closer to the hole was always better. Apparently.
