Can any of you kind folks tell me the diameter of a standard putter grip. Can't find wife's tape measure and can't find info on the net. Cheers in advance.

Not sure there is an industry standard and it will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. It many only be small differences but you can definitely feel the differences.

Most manufacturers have grip core sizes of 0.58". I know Golf Pride, Lamkin and Scotty Cameron all have 0.58" cores.
As for outside grip diameter, no idea. I would imagine it would depend on the type of grip (Standard, midsize, jumbo etc) and, possibly, the material used.

Both Lamkin & Golf Pride have a mixture of 0.580" and 0.600" core sizes depending on the grip, and Golf Pride Tour Velvets are available in both sizes. You need to look at what you are proposing to use.

Winn putter grips - fairly popular - 0.590" core
Karma putter grips - less so - 0.600" core
