What does Google know about you?

I have little sympathy for folk who put their whole lives on the internet, their job, their place of work, where they live, their dob, people put everything on the net thinking they are cool, fools.

I remember a few years ago having a talk with my daughter about this issue.

I challenged her to find me on the net. She could not.

A little changed now because I joined facebook, but I will not give them all the correct info including my date of birth. The latter nobody gets unless I feel they really need it eg the bank.

Whilst i agree, the latest news is about the information you have not openly shared, but the information these companies are harvesting from your devices. For example, I have Facebook, I only have it to Admin our family pub page, I dont post on it, i have no friends! (on purpose!)

I ran the facebook report to see what they have on me...

They have the 1300 contacts names, phone numbers stored on my phone, they have profiled what i look at (i do look at stuff there, just dont post) My details have been shared with AirBNB, Just Eat, Uber and screwfix!, They know when and where i have logged into it!

So its not just aimed at those who share every intimate detail of their life on social media.

Go to settings on facebook and click Download a copy of your Facebook data. Same argument

I have tried to download the information but after Settings there is nowhere that states’start my archive’. The page starts with General then Security etc.

Any help would be appreciated

on the General page which it should be go across to the middle of the page and then down. you have name, username etc then the link is at the bottom below manage account and download a copy should be in blue

You are probably looking at the app? Try it on a desktop.

This ... how many people actualy read all the terms and conditions of anything they sign ??
If u want these apps on ur device u have to accept

Best one recently, i was at the Excel arena for a work event, to connect to their 'free wifi' you can log in via your twitter account to save messing about with a new login etc...

Then you read the terms...

Something along the lines of 'by accepting this, you are allowing Excel to view your tweets, follow people and tweet on your behalf'

Safe to say, i used my data allowance instead!

I went to a talk recently on GDPR. I am sure the bloke mentioned something along the lines of terms and conditions having to be simplified so that people can genuinely read and understand them. At the moment most of us don't due to their length and complexity. Your example is a great one for why we need to be able to read them. Thanks for posting this, I will look more carefully in future.
