So, you've organised a few days away with your mates to play golf but cant afford top hotel prices as well as top golf courses.
Which would you sacrifice?
Good courses and B&B or swanky hotel and goat track?
If you did go the B&B option, what would you expect?
Would you pay extra for
Lifts to and from the course?
Evening meal?
Bar?
Or eat out and drive yourself?

This is something I've thought about often. Four of us go away every spring for a Fri-Mon golfing weekend. We have played most often at courses along the Moray coast. We've done the 'special deal' offers at one or two places and benefited from reduced greenfees but to be honest, last couple of years where we used a Premier Inn as a base and travelled each day has meant we've played some better courses as we've had just as good a time.

I suppose it all depends what you're after, but a weekend away, three nights accomodation, three evening meals, five rounds of golf, and a few beers can still be had at a reasonable rate if you're prepared to look.

Definitely prefer to spend the cash playing a decent course. As long as the room is adequate for sleeping and the bed is clean then I don't really care. Find a decent pub serving food and get a cafe meal on the way to the game if the B&B or hotel don't serve brekkie or you are in a Travellodge.

Good course and a decent B&B. The B&B location is very important for a evening bevy though.

I'd prefer to pay a few ££ for a taxi so everybody can have a drink afterward the round.

As for tea anything from a sitdown indian to a kebab on the way back to the B&B bladdered :D :D

Certainly the course takes preference for me. Agree with the comments that it is not worth the trip away if you are not playing a decent course. At the end of the day you only spend a couple of hours in the room if you are out on the course then in the pub.

Yeah as others have said, I'd rather have a top course and put accommodation second than play a wreck of a course but stop in 5* hotels.
