• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

What do you 'do' other than golf?

Im a Scout Leader and an Archery Instructor, which is why im a 5 day golf member,
also still have 2 daughters at Uni, so trips to Leeds and Brum are common

Sometimes I work :)

Now then Robin Hood, if you are ever up at Sherwood Forest. There is a permanent craft fair in Edwinstowe overlooking the cricket pitch/ Sherwood Forest. In the craft fair, there is a guy that makes leather goods and wooden bows and all the arrows and differant heads you could imagine. Phil yer boots 👍Sorry couldn't resist.

He also gives classes with the long bow.

Cool, I shoot Compound and Recurve, would love to do proper longbow, certainly better at Archery than Golf :)

fishing ,or more precise match angling .i enter opens and club matches as often as time and money allows ,golf comes first as its harder to keep up unless i put the hours in on the course or driving range.I also play pool for a local pub .

I am an angler too but am surprised you can combine golf and match fishing. I did a lot of the latter before I took up golf and it is time consuming just like golf, what with preparation, practice etc. I rarely match fish now though do have a week on the Severn after barbel each year and the occasional pleasure session, although golf has taken over of late.

Two expensive hobbies too!

In terms of partaking in other sports, nothing these days. It used to be rugby, football, cricket, tennis, table tennis and then the family.

There's some spectating occasionally down at the rugby club, and walks on the beach. And thank god for Sky Sports!

Going to gigs and shows, photography, play keyboards, drawing, watching all sport, occasionally a Palace season ticket holder, seeing Grand children, eating out and ive gone back to work 2 days a week. Add to that plenty of decorating and odd diy jobs - pretty lazy really!

Making awful music, cooking and gaming is about all I do these days.
Sport went out of the window a few years ago when my knee knacked up, used to play 3 or 4 times a week up until that point.

Took up woodworking last year and mainly get out to do project work some evenings and over thd weekend. Currently putting together a pair of walnut lamp tables for a work colleague. Very therapeutic (when the table saw or router table arent on).

Sorry but I'm confused ?

Other than golf ? There is other stuff to do ?!

:D

I also Coach hockey also do the odd bit of umpiring - used to be every weekend in the national league but stopped that when it got in the way of golf.

Other than work and family time, I also coach a local kids football team. I'm also in the early stages of setting up a small business. The other 35 hours a week I spend sleeping...

A bit of friendly badminton on a Thursday, but joy of joys I have landed a regular gig at a local pub doing Karaoke for them on a Saturday night. A wad of dosh for having a laugh on a Saturday night with friends and sometimes family.

I LOVE KARAOKE !!!!!

Time is made for son and wife, playing a bit of guitar with some friends, gym/managing arthritis (daily stretching etc.) and now vice-captaincy of golf club. Would like more time for my mountain bike and banjo. Need to fix the solar system to account for a 48 hr day.

I have two young daughters aged 6 & 4 who keep me very busy. I try to keep a decent garden, look after my chickens, try and get to as many gigs as possible generally get outdoors as much as possible . My guilty secret is i do like a jigsaw, i find it therapeutic after the chaos and mayhem of getting the rugrats to bed !!
