What Can You Do?

There are those of us who want to have a handicap that truely reflects their playing ability. It's all well and good saying wait until a comp and hope for a wee prize (heavily accented? ;)), but to me if I couldn't play in comps for a period of time but knew I was playing better than my current handicap I would want it adjusted to reflect my ability - supplementary cards are the means of doing that. To artificially maintain a higher handicap via them is just plain wrong which is why there is a clear statement on the Golf England website regarding supplementary cards.

i dont get the rush to hand in supplementary cards. why not just hold out till your in a comp and try and scoop a wee prize

Some clubs do not offer enough competitions for members be they 5 or 7 day. Other clubs require a certain number of cards to have been submitted prior to big competitions.

I assume supplementary cards are good for both those situations.

Additionally they are a good option for the honest golfer who does not have the time to enter lots of competitions.

Being a 5-day member and with all out comps on a wednesday, it can be tricky to guarantee availability on competition day.
I can't make all the comps due to work or other commitments so being able to chuck in a Supplementary Card will keep my handicap accurate...

Seems that HDID are now showing my handicap as 20.9, so the card has gone through after all

Im very very confused, but happy to now officially be off 21 rather than 23

Can somebody explain please?

If you're a member of a Golf club, then why is a handicap controlled on HDID, isn't that the role of the handicap secretary at the club where your membership is?

Handicap controlled by the club but quicker to see it published on HDID.

Rick at your handicap your very close which makes me think it's just a mental/confidence thing, have you analysed where your leaking the majority of shots?

Yes, it's the doubles and triples that litter every card.....I've even had a 1 over gross with a double on it and 2 x 4 over gross rounds with 2 x double bogies on each.........if I can keep the doubles off, the h/c will come down.

The doubles come from a lack of focus after I have had a bad hole.....i know you are supposed to forget it and move on, but it's easier said than done.......I'm still beating myself up for a double I made 2 weeks ago........
