What brands would you not play?

Clearly Ping, because I'm not old enough, TM, because what ever you buy is obsolete before you leave the shop, Mizzy, because they are the hi fi enthusiasts choice (soon to be taken over by the 'ooh, you can't use THAT font' brigade), Cally, because it's 'all the gear, no idea', BenrossOrkaMD because I'm not that skint, Cobra because they are Titleist light, and now owned by Puma who know nothing about golf clubs, and heck, there are way more I can't remember.

I'm basically left with Titleist, and Nike (yes, I support Arsenal), and some obscure Japanese brands.

I bought a new driver yesterday and the one that came best from a wide selection was the Cobra S2.
I have tried the Nike VR forged irons at a golfing roadshow and I was blown away by how sweet the 6 iron felt. I was impressed.
My irons are Golfsmiths and are quality so I can't really say I'm a big name brand sort of guy. Then again I won't buy bottom of the range priced gear as you generally get out what money you put in.

In response to the "I don't like TM because they release a new improved club every ten seconds" scenario, I actually like that, because it means I can pick up some nice clubs for a fraction of their original RRP without them being too old already.

I got my full set of r7 irons for less than 250 quid and have since tried both the new burners and r9s (as well as a number of other brands) with a view to "upgrading" and haven't got noticeably better results with any of them.

Look at the r9 driver. It didn't come out that long ago and you can pick it up for £160 in places now that the supertri and superdeep are out. I wouldn't buy TM clubs on release for that very reason, but some people are made of money and can manage it. I'll just pay half the price 6-12 months later thanks!

Maybe the TM stuff is over-priced on release? Which is why the 'old' (6 months!) stuff is so heavily reduced. Perhaps that is the business model. Bring out something new every 3 months, over price it as the latest technology, get a few sales from the 'must have it' bridgade, but then sell it at it's true market value 6 months down the line. It might not be right, but it appears to be successful for them.

I may be completely wrong. As, after-all. We're talking about customer perception here and not fact.

Love the tm haters. As said I never buy my tm stuff fresh on the Market my burner was 150 quid from my local pro shop 6 month ago and 6 months after it com out , so I waited six months and saved almost 50% thank you very much

But they still stung you for 150 quid Oddsocks... :D :D

For the extra twenty to thirty yards over my ping was more than happy to pay it and last months society longest drive trophy at 300 yards backs that up ;)

Justified so mate. :D....But will they tempt you to change again before christmas.

Nope I tend to stick with what I'm playing with for around 18 months driver wise and last irons I've had for about 8 years only thing that made me buy the tm was I had a habit of braking my wrist to early on the take back but the shape of the head on the tm burner simply don't allow it so it's cured that prob aswel ( so tecnically it cost me 120 as the other 30 would have been a lesson price)

Nike.

Now had two Nike products, and they've both been shee-ite.

plus, Tiger is a dick (not because of his shagging, he's just always been a dick) so I will no longer countenance contributing to his pension fund.

I won't touch Callaway again. There clubs are bigger and uglier than Ping

Ping - battered old volvo driven well below the speed limit by an old codger taking his wife for a drive and with a traffic jam forming behind

Should I ever decide to swap again I'd definitely look at the Ping range at the time

That sounds like a man who definitely knows what he wants in a golf club.
You really do have a terrible memory Homer

Some serious brand snobbery going on in here. Are people really saying they wouldn’t even try a make of club because of its manufacturer?

I will play whatever I like, I have Ping, Nike, Adams, TM, Vokeys and Rife in my bag. There all clubs Im confident with so why would I not use them? If something works I'd try it, not bothered one bit!

It sounds like some people would cut off their nose to spite their face!!!!
