Any of the premium balls for me.
Currently ProV1 or X, AD333Tour, SR2, or RZN black that I found the other day...
I tend to use NXT Tour calibre balls in the winter as premium balls spin too much on the soft greens but keep a few premiums in the bag just in case.

Srixon Z-Star XV for comps or serious rounds. They're right for my swing speed, stop on a sixpence and feel good off the putter. (Otherwise, whatever I find.)

I did try the Bridgestone premium ball at Hankley Common this year , guy in our 4 ball used it , not bad at all and not that expensive either ...........will try them again at some point .......

Whatever I find whilst out walking the dog. Will try to pick out the premium ones, but happy to Sherman any old pick up into the farm next door.

i was under the impression X out were non conforming, unlike practice... could be wrong though.

They can't be used when list of conforming balls rule is in place but are ok otherwise. Rare for normal club comps.

They run a slight risk that if tested they might not conform but the onus is on the person who questions it's conformity to prove it doesn't. Generally X-out are balls are ones that fail Q&A for a minor thing that may be slightly more than a cosmetic issue.

Nope, all conforming now :) Think you may be right that they weren't in the past but have been 'conforming' for a while now.

ah, i know a while ago they weren't and there were even questions on practice as well by a few guys ive play in comps with when using a ball with practice on.

There were a lot of those flying about up here 3 years ago when they first had the Scottish open at Castle Stuart, you could take a short cut across the range to get to the course and, lets just say quite a few of them were "lost";)

shot a PB with a Topflite on hard summer fairways and greens, ball still stopped.

I dont believe the majority of amateurs will play better or worse with different balls- I do believe though that you will have a preference for feel off the putter face but anything else is all in your head.
