Looks mad. Of course, we wouldn't be playing these tees, but hypothetically speaking if you were - what would you be hitting? I think driver just hits the tree. I might be able to hit a 3 wood low enough but I couldn't guarantee it. Those of you who are of a ball-strikers persuasion can probably hit a 2 iron, but all my long clubs are designed to launch the ball up in the air!

Maybe I just aim at that gap top left and let my natural slice come into its own? Hit putter off the tee?? Realistically I'd probably chuck a 3 wood onto the deck rather than using a tee and hope that keeps it low enough.

My mate said he'd just thin a lob wedge.

It's a par 4, 413yds. There used to be a tree there but it was removed, it had gone bad. They have replaced it with a similar one, to recreate the issue. Supposedly, it should not affect the shot, it is a psychological trick. However.........looking at that photo, not sure they have got the tee box in the right place.

I suspect I would hit a branch, is the glib answer, as I hit my driver quite high, quite quickly. I suspect I would go down the shaft of my driver and try to punch it low.

Hopefully, it is not as tricksy when we watch it tonight.

Yeah, it might be a perspective trick, maybe the actual teeing markers are closer to it than it looks so they can just easily launch under it. I'm not sure. In that case I'd probably just hit driver off a slightly lower tee to make sure I don't balloon one up into the branch.

Is the tree really overhanging as much as it looks or is it a trick of perspective?

If you took the same photo from all the left side of the tee box, presumably it would be a clear shot, but generate less action on social media?

He’s standing far right ( presumably for camera effect). Looks more playable from far left.

I’m absolute rubbish and can hit a low iron well over 100 barely getting off the deck from way back in the stance with a 2/3 swing (because I get lots of practice hitting out of trees 🤣). Tour pros surely can double that with ease and do it with basically any club too.

Driver for me.

How high the tee is, exactly where in the stance the tee is placed and how much follow through would depend on what I would actually need to do.

I just settled down to watch The Players on the box and they run a feature about the new tee.
It is about 25 yards in front of the current tee position.
The players being shown took driver.
