what are the benefits of an titleist mb/cb over an ap2, just wondering as i seen a combo set ap2 3 to 6 mb 7 to pw. so what is the benefits in mb?

t'other way around!

benefit is ap2 more forgiving than MB/CB, and CB slightly more forgiving than MB which is a true blade

Hook, line and sinker.

Nothing wrong with your AP2s, which are new and custom fitted? Why bother looking at something else??

i have no reason to change im hitting them well, just wonder why people would use mb in the higher irons the reason behind it?

so if you game with ap2 your a joke?

Probably don't need to game AP2s to be a joke - but maybe it helps!

Being blades, MBs have more 'feel' and supposedly workability - important for the 'scoring' clubs. AP2s are more forgiving - important for the 'distance' clubs.

Same reason you use bladed wedges and not cavity back wedges...
You don't need as much forgiveness in shorter irons - almost anyone can hit a bladed 8,9 or wedge..

People will look at you as a real golfer.

I'd say it was the other way mate, any tour stick wielding wannabe can buy some mp tp mb vanity clubs, real golfers use cavity backs, regular graphite shafts and maybe sport some kind of flat cap occasionally.

proper golf :D

Castle tees too, dont forget the multi coloured castle tees.

My Boomross irons still say 'tour' and 'X100', I feel short changed as I feel I have missed out on a big lesson in life an golf. Hopefully we will play together a bit this year so some of it will rub off.

Off the Reds perhaps?

As someone who uses a "split" or "flow" set, I'm going to let you in to a little secret.. I find little or no benefit in using bladed high irons.. I just like the look of them.. I don't appear to be losing too many (if any) shots, so my vanity doesn't really bother me.. It's just nice to look at the bag and see some bladed irons.. Purely aesthetics...

However, I'm sure that better golfers than me will find a benefit from them...

I just switched from 712 ap2 irons to 714 mb irons best thing I ever did I've gained yards and hit more greens an fairways

When we went to Titleist for the 913 driver fitting, the tour van guy Phil said that Titleist only needed to make one iron........the AP2.

Enough forgiveness for a beginner, enough workability for the best pro.

The AP2 is a cracking club, it does everything I need of it, and if the "thin top line" is something you require it's barely any different to any blade I've looked down on in my time.
You can shape the ball easily, and the bit of cavity aids on miss hits (something even the best pro's have on occasion).

Did you change anything else? Shaft, loft, lie, grip size etc? or was it purely a straight swap? Curious because I have AP2 and XHP which are both cavity back of course, maybe its time to give full blades (mb's) another chance? Played TM ICW5's moons ago but I was not the same player back then.

Are you hitting more greens because you are hitting more fairways, or are you hitting more greens because you've changed from cavity backs to blades?

I went from Mizzy MP32's to AP2's courtsey of GM ..

Total change , ie now stiff shafts ,1/2 inch longer . 2 degrees flat etc ... up til Tuesday i have been playing good golf .
2 x 13 hole comps under par (placing)
3 from 3 matchplay wins ,
76 gross in a gale to win gross in first qualifier of the year .

Wont mention Tuesday as it was off the tee that killed me ..

I feel ive lost a few yards on each club but im hitting it well , the Only thing i notice negative is i can see too much of the the back of the 3& 4 irons at address , will stick with it for a bit yet but would be tempted to put the Mizzy 3&4 back in . dont have or use hybrids or rescues
