Can't see what the problem is. Tough course in tough conditions and there are still players under par!!!

I'm with lmurg, if I want to watch bogeys, doubles and worse I can head down my local course. That 15th where the balls are landing on the top level and still finding water is nonsense

The course was tough because it was bloody windy.
Why do people moan when something gets a bit tougher than their used to.
I cant remember many players moaning about the course yesterday.
I think as Gibbo stated perhaps they are so pampered these days,no
different to footballers moaning when it gets tough.
Has no-one here played in 30 mile per hour winds and found it tough.
The last few tournaments have been played for peanuts,this field are playing for 9m
plus appearance fees.
Brett rumford was 7 off the tee yesterday,was that the courses fault,absolutely not,
just a player with no brains,or not enough ability.
As for the 15th,i think Kuchar put it to 8ft so how does that make it unplayable.
Stenson hit a draw,riding it on the wind,a recipe for disaster.

I'm really enjoying this one.
Played last week and if I hit an iron other than perfectly I ended up covered in mud splatter. Had to pick and place within a yard and the fairways haven't been cut for absolutely ages. Plugged balls, water logged bunkers, temporary tees, temporary greens and greens in play that need cutting and rolling to iron out the spike marks and indentations.
The pro's are playing in 70+ degrees in a warm wind with fairways like my clubs greens. The greens are twice the size of ours are in top condition and have perfect roll. The course is nice on the eye, it's sunny so what are they complaining about?

The combination of firm and fast greens, slippery slopes and the wind has made it very tricky. As Gmac said, probably playable, but borderline. The same thing happens at The Open, but it doesn't have water round the side and back of so many greens.
I think the changes to the course have been good, and it will normally play in calmer conditions but still be a good test. I have played the old Blue Monster and thought it was just a dull long slog, rather like The Belfry with more palm trees and fewer Brummie accents.

On a slightly different note.. I think I like the TV coverage (not the game, just the technology). PGA now seems to show shot tracers, overlay avg distances, hole flyovers, putting line etc. It definitely makes it more watchable. Otherwise, all you end up seeing is a swing and then the ball landing - whats the fun in that. I hope the Ryder Cup telecast is a bit like this too..

Amazing the difference with this course when there isn't as much wind but still a bit Mickey Mouse when a player hits the green and ends up in the water!
