Westy really is World number one isn't he?

Wee putt to go 2 up and misses then crumbles again while trying to get over the line at a huge event.

Which part of that is shite tell me please?

Compare that to THE world number 1's performance today.

2.5 points to 2... Simples.

bloody TW obsessed fans, I bet they wish they where dancers so they had a chance of sinking a birdie.

Do you get world ranking points for winning in team events?

Until he can prove he is worth it he is just another golfer aiming for Tigers crown....Simples.

I don't really think in all honesty you can judge him on todays defeat in a pressure cooker microcosm. In terms of consistency of performance certainly in the last two years worth of majors then on current form he is arguably the number 1 and had he not missed a large chunk of the back of this season including the USPGA he might even be there by right. Let's see him recharge after the race to Dubai and rekindle this thread in 12 months time. I'm certain he'll be there or thereabouts

Did he play over par or did his opponent simply play under-par golf to close out? Stricker just played better golf. There was no crumbling whatsoever.

And isn't it funny how Woods plays well when the pressure is off, he's on his own and it's all about him? Stricker carried him for two days and then he graces us with brilliant golf when the game was over (at that stage, it looked in the bag). Did he look happy? Did he show any excitement? Did he buggery. He looked like the only place he wanted to be was between some waitress.

You could also argue that Mickelson and Johnson also only showed up when the game was about them too, but at least they looked like they were enjoying it.

Until the world rankings read 1.Westwood 2. Woods then afraid not ,if its over 3 rounds maybe but sorry guys he's not and a good way from being it as well.

Got to say that i think Tiger is still the best player in the world, he may have had a drubbing yesterday but his golf today was simply sensational.
Cannot imagine another golfer getting through what he has and still playing to such an incredible level. His number one crown may be at risk, but once he gets into his stride he'll be untouchable again............ :)

Being realistic I don't think Westwood is there yet. Yes he's had some time out with injury, but so has Tiger, what was it 3 months?

Next year will be interesting, love him or hate him, Tiger Woods the 'Golfer' makes others strive to improve and even catch him up.

Golfmmad.

I'm not the biggest Tiger Woods fan

But he's still top of the list

If Westwood gets there he'll rightfully deserve the plaudits, but not before.

Personally I don't think Lee will get there without winning a major though. He's good - very good. But Tiger still has enough about him that he won't easily give up that final shred of invincability that he has.

Next year is make or break for both Westwood and Tiger.

Do you think it's about pacing himself, or something like that?
IMO very few golfers - even at the top, including TW - can play for 3 or 4 days flat out perfect golf. The trick is to keep on in there and bring out best at the finish. Lee often starts fantastically (e.g Fri/Sat where he was inspirational) but has none left for final round.

Westwood will become No. 1 just as he will win a major, though neither he, nor any other current player, will break Woods records (and I'm not a TW fan).

imo Poults is the one most likely to pick up Monty's mantle as the nearly man.
