Westwood

I think when Jack Nicklaus says you need to be able to hole the 6 - 8 footers to contend in a major, then you would be a fool to ignore it.

Aye because comments like that show him up to be a real classy guy. Great role model for the kids that go to his academy.
Maybe or you could say that he's a great example of being true to yourself and isn't some media coached typical pro. I respect him more for having a backbone

Their ego get's stroked by the bum sniffers as well though.

Funnily enough i've just been reading what he's said today and there's some hideous looking bint on there talking filth to him. Hahahaha he's yet to respond but she wants to meet up with Lee. He should send Tiger along.

Oh this really made me laugh!!

Only good if ya hole the putts tho mate ,

GIR stats can be misleading in ratio to putts tho , if your on every green 30 feet from the hole , its gona look like your putting is the problem when you 2 & 3 putt every green ..

While that is indeed true, PGA stats of 'Shots gained Putting' (negative in Westwood's case) indicate there's work to be done.

In fact, there are some interesting stats for him http://www.pgatour.com/players/player.20396.lee-westwood.html/performance-stats/#uber

He doesn't seem to be a star at any specific shot - except from 175-225 and scrambling from >30yds, but Top 10 ranking belies all those! GIR Ranking is lower than I would have expected. Final Round Scoring appears to be problem!

At least that golfing overachiever, Ian Baker-Finch has but the breaks on Westwood...

When Westwood asked by Joey Barton has more Twitter followers, Finchy replied, "Perhaps he's a better putter than you."

The whole twitter outburst from Westwood is a bit sad really. He has blown his top and made himself look a fool. This is exactly what the trolls winding him up were looking for, he thinks he's won by shouting them down but really they have.
A lot of people have advised him to chill out and gotten abused by Westwood for their trouble.
I'm a big fan of Lee and I'm just a bit disappointed with it really.
He's previously taken a long hiatus from twitter, and got back on it a couple of months ago with some promotional tweets (that Poulter crucified him for), I sense another twitter break coming. Probably for the best.

Good to see Westwood put these trolls in their place, only so much abuse one man can take. They wouldn't do it to his face so every right to call them out on it.

So Westwood has let another two majors pass him by this year, and people can say "he can't chip" "he can't putt" and generally slag him off every time he tees it up, but do you know what? I would swap places with him in an instant! If someone offered me the chance to be one of of the top ranked professional golfers, playing on the best courses in the world, in the best tournaments, winning a couple of events every year, earning a shed load of cash through playing and endorsements, then yes please!!

Your forum driving distance would drop by 50yards though ....

I've been using twitter since 2008. Nowadays, it's a sham. It's so far removed from what it was originally created for. Maybe I'm just getting older!

As far as Westwood's tweets go, I think he has every right to react / reply to the messages he gets. Having said that it does show a little bit of unprofessionalism to go as far as he did with it. Was very entertaining though!

I don't follow Westy on twitter but did catch up on his rants. I respect him as a player & a bloke, but his responses were out of order. I think Luke Donald got in trouble last year for similar tweets about how much money he had.

I've never been on twitter for this exact reason. Give idiots a global forum to show off to their mates and they will.
